23.01.2022 | Creating A Sanctuary At Home - Plants | Plants are number one on my list of things that can help create a beautiful space at home. An indoor garden can be a refuge from the world. Lush green foliage can soften harsh lines, provide oxygen and add colour to a space. Psychologically speaking green is one of the easiest colours on the eye, we recognise it as being a colour of nature and it induces a soothing, relaxed state. They have been proven to improve mental health and hel...p boost the immune system, which is pretty important at the minute. The more plants and nature we can surround ourselves with, the better we feel and the more we can deal with emotions such as stress, anxiety, overwhelm. Plants can also help with loneliness and depression - caring for a living thing gives us a purpose and is rewarding, especially when you see it bloom and thrive. Its pretty quick and easy to get plants into your space - a number of them in the photos below were rejects from Bunnings (I saw them and couldnt let them be thrown out) and some are cuttings from the back garden. My favourites are ferns and Hoyas, I love anything that makes a place look like a forest (or florist!) My philosophy on plants is definitely more is more....you can never have enough. I love to create lush spaces like the shop that people just want to stay in. I have them in my home in all shapes and sizes, from small ferns to full size Kauri trees. With the small ones, I arrange them in an amongst my favourite things - books, big crystal specimens, bowls and some very special Japanese candles. Plants can help make every corner of your home feel good and look beautiful. Please fill your home with plants! Most indoor plants are low maintenance, I usually tell people to put in on a weekly reminder to get into the routine of watering. See what might be available already in your back yard, and if you buy them, please support small business - nurseries and growers are the best. Let me know if you have questions! If you have something in your back garden and dont know if it can come inside, just send me a pic. Happy to help you choose something beautiful new friends for your personal plant sanctuary. 23.01.2022 | C O N N E C T I O N T H R O U G H B E A U T Y | Arent you just moved by the utter beauty of some things? The beauty of roses moves me, and today it was through the botanical illustrations of Pierre-Joseph Redout, a talented 18th Century artist who illustrated many collections of roses. ... Just looking through his collection makes me so happy and relaxed. Why? We actually feel connected to nature through beauty. We are wired to recognise the geometry and symmetry found in nature. Think about all the natural environments that we collectively find beauty in - sunsets, forests, oceans, parks, mountains and rivers; trees, flowers, plants and animals. Beauty moves us and connects us, and surrounding ourselves with what we find beautiful is actually beneficial to our health. In this time of uncertainty and overwhelm, what beauty can we use in our environment to help calm stress? Some suggestions are: Plants and flowers in the home Photos of places and people we love A natural scene on screen backgrounds Artwork and images that evoke joy Favourite colours around the home. For me it would a Redoubt rose print on the wall! What can you do in your home to create more beauty and connection? Im going to put some ideas together tomorrow for creating a beautiful sanctuary at home given that most people are staying at home and/or experiencing high stress during this time. Stay tuned!

22.01.2022 | Creating A Sanctuary At Home - Aromatherapy | Essential oils - plants and flowers in liquid form! They are one of the most amazing ways to balance and improve your mood, and create a beautiful calming space. With working from home and kids homeschooling, you can alter your mood just by using different essential oils in your space. They are a staple in my home for creating space, first aid, cleaning and emotional support. Some of my favourite flower oils:... Lavender - amazing for calming anything, including stress, tension, and crazy kids. Its great for sleep and you can diffuse in the evening to help calm the whole family. Geranium - a sweet, floral and uplifting scent that is relaxing and invigorating at the same time. Great for diffusing and adding to a bath. Chamomile - calms the nerves and is relaxing, improves mood and is wonderful to use for children. And my favourite plant and tree oils: Bergamot - very fresh and clean scent, is uplifting helps with mental and emotional stress as well as physical stress. Frankincense - great for immune support, mental fatigue, calming nerves and breathing support. Arborvitae - calming and great for meditation and getting grounded. Get oils into you life and space, youll never look back. You just need a couple to start with and a diffuser. Play around with them and notice how your family responds! Create the sanctuary retreat of your dreams and support your emotional, mental and physical health at the same time. Please let me know what oils you are using to create a beautiful space!

19.01.2022 A little cottage garden beauty to start the week....Borage, Salvia, Cosmos, Acacia & Smokebush.

18.01.2022 | Creating A Sanctuary At Home - Flowers | Being a floral designer, its so natural for me to add flowers to a space. Life is dull without them! While is not a second thought for most people to buy flowers for their home let alone a priority, flowers can actually lower stress levels and it can be a beautiful ritual to implement around relaxation and wellbeing. Flowers have an obvious aesthetic appeal, they are beautiful to the eyes and have the ability to affect our minds by ...bringing greater joy and happiness to our lives. Like plants, they again are bring nature inside your home. Flowers provide psychological healing, and studies have shown people suffering from anxiety or mental stress can get relief for their condition using flowers. Some even help you sleep, Lavender being one of them. And because flowers are so fragrant and the smells are so strongly linked with memories, flowers have the potential to activate and therefore exercise the parts of your brain associated with memory. Roses do this for me, and take me right back to very specific places and people in my childhood. So with all of their know benefits, its now about getting them into your home! Go out into your back yard - what do you have there that you could bring inside? Roses, lavender, hydrangea, natives, water lily, sunflowers, orchids, geranium, bougainvillea and magnolia all make beautiful specimens. Even so called weeds are great! If you dont have anything I the back yard, consider buying some quality flowers once a week. Please just not from the supermarkets. Select a vase, jar, bottle or cup and place them where you would see them most...in the kitchen, on your bedside table, in your lounge room. Even a single flower can bring colour and joy to your space. If you have questions about types of suitable flowers, how to arrange them, what to put them in, drop me a message. Id love to see some photos of what you were able to find!

Always. We do not have to argue about the why. The antidote is obvious. Alignment with the mother, with our source of nurturance. Remembering everything we use and need comes from her. Give thanks. 15.01.2022 The forest...such a privilege to spend time in this beautiful space, its the ultimate connection in nature. My favourite place. Not everyone has the ability to be immersed in the forest everyday, so how are you connecting to nature? We dont have to stay cooped up inside despite being told to stay in our homes - we actually need nature now more than ever. Many people are experiencing deep grief from the loss of their jobs and businesses, anxiety over uncertain future, overwhe...lm in the unknown. A way we can help ourselves deal with these feelings is get out and connect into nature. A forest is great, but so is the back yard, sitting under a tree, barefoot on the lawn. It literally takes 5 minutes of being outside amongst trees and plants for your bodys stress hormones to wind back to normal levels. If you are now finding yourself at home, take 10 minutes outside - on the lawn, on the balcony, under a tree, amongst the flowers! Soak up some sun and some fresh air...you will find that it quickly becomes a habit you wont want to let go of. Drop a photo of what your connection to nature looks like

14.01.2022 Happy Birthday Ramari - hope you had an amazing day! We love you

14.01.2022 I keep being asked if flowers and plants help with stress and the answer is a resounding yes. With everyone feeling varying degrees of stress at the moment, I thought I would share a few ways you can use nature at home to reduce distress, anxiety, overwhelm and fear. Over the next few days, Ill share how to introduce more plants, flowers, aromatherapy, light, water and music into your home to create the most beautiful sanctuary that you will enjoy being in! Who is in?

12.01.2022 This deep ruby coloured beauty is called Draculas Kiss...what do you think? Appropriate for tomorrow?

12.01.2022 Kindred of Wilde...Connection is what we need right now. Connection comes after disconnection. We have been so disconnected for far too long - from people, ourselves, nature. Haemorrhaging our life force participating in the endless daily commute, the rushed breakfast, the school run, the overtime at work. We find ourselves in a strange set of circumstances that is challenging the way we have been doing life. And even though we may be feeling separated physically, we are face...d with an opportunity to lean into connection. What does that even look like? Connection with our breath, connection in our relationships, connection to nature. We desperately need connection to nature. Its supports connection to ourselves and others. When we are connected in all three areas we can experience stillness, space, joy, presence -the antidotes to the fear and overwhelm that is currently gripping humanity. Ive got so much to say on connection to nature and its about time I shared. Its a unique time that is forcing us to face a different way of being, a way that plugs us back in after so long of being without. Looking forward to sharing more with you.

11.01.2022 Definitely would love to create this for people to experience!

Sunlight can positively affect our mood, literally making us feel brighter and happier.
