17.01.2022 Good morning Athletes, It is with great sadness and regret that we inform you that we have made the tough decision to cancel this years Wild Earth Ultra Trail Gold Coast 500. Along with all the other smaller events. This was a decision that was not made lightly. Unfortunately we are unable to attain the right permit to hold this event whilst events cap off on 100 people. We unfortunately exceed the 100 people across all events including support crews. Also due to QLD strict p...olicy on the closer of our border this would also mean that athletes that want to do the event will not be able to toe the start line. This years event going off the interest that we have received would have been the biggest event to date with a record number of athletes wanting to attend the event. We were hopeful this years event would have gone ahead with not many hiccups. Unfortunately this has proven to not be the case. Also, with respect to other events being postponed towards the back end of the year, we decided not to postpone to a later date rather just cancel and look forward to 2021. We apologise for the inconvenience and we will be in touch in regards to a refund for those that have laid out costs. We hope that you can understand and that we see you in 2021. Thank you.

17.01.2022 The origin of the 500km came about in 2018 when Sam Weir crossed the finish line after a gruelling 200 mile and walked straight up to my father (Ian Cornelius) and suggested that he stage an even bigger event that will completely crush your soul into a million pieces. It was right there and then the 500km was born. The following year in 2019, the 500 was underway. And again, as Sam crossed the finish line, he straight away suggested we hold a 1000km race. True story. Sam’s r...esume speaks for itself. He is well known for being a sucker for punishment without a single complaint. We look forward to having you toe the start line again Sam for what will be another fun yet gruelling event. Wild Earth

15.01.2022 Good evening all!!! Just a FYI for those that have enquired on all social media fronts. Yes, the website is currently down at the moment as we are changing servers over but sit tight and we will have website up and running again soon. Also, just a COVID update: For those training up for the 500km event - Everything is looking positive for this to go ahead at this stage so keep training. It’s a tough race so make sure you are prepared. Along with all the other smaller events.... There is always a possibility that this could all change as we don’t really know what is going to happen next month or the months after but I can tell you for those asking, the event is on at this stage. Happy training.

15.01.2022 So who is going to rise to the challenge this year? Last year we only had 5 finishes in the 500km. Some coming close but fell short. Definitely going to be an exciting race to watch this year with some returning for redemption. Tag someone you think should enter.

15.01.2022 Hi Gold Coast Trail Running family, Its about time to set goals again. I’m calling for expressions of interest in the 500 km Ultra Trail marathon to be held again in 2021. If so please come to a meeting at Catalina Cafe, Gold Coast Aquatic Centre entry is on the southeast corner of the centre from the outside of the pool at 6.30 pm Friday 20 November, on the agenda is to set the date. 12.01.2022 Good evening everyone, What crazy times we are living in at the moment. Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by this virus. Let’s please band together and get out and support our local small business as best as we can. Firstly - I would just like to apologise to those who have sent messages via Instagram and have not yet been received a reply. There has been an abundance of messages come through over the last few weeks with numerous questions regarding the event this yea...r. Unfortunately, until we speak with our fearless leader (Stephen) you may just have to sit tight until we are able to get back to you with a response. (Please in future if you require direct information- please email or message this page directly). For the time being though, with the event still 6 months away, it is still currently going ahead as planned and hopefully doesn’t fall victim to the virus. So keep your training up and stay motivated. Especially those who plan to tackle the 500kms. One of the questions that has frequently been asked over this last week is ‘I am looking at entering the 500 this year however, I have only ever done 50km & 100km races’. The answer is yes that is okay - however, if you have/or have had health issues in the past/ current medical conditions etc - we ask that you get a medical certificate to show you are fit to undertake such a tough race. Stay safe everyone and hopefully we can ride this out so we can get back to living our best lives. Team WEUTGC.

12.01.2022 Good morning everyone. We hope you are all safe and well in this time. Just a quick message to let you all know that we are looking at all the information the government is providing surrounding COVID-19 and in good time we will adjust accordingly. At this stage we are still planning to go ahead with all events but will continue to monitor the situation and will make a call early August as to wether we will proceed or not. ... We are looking at possibly opening registrations in the next week or two as we know there are a few keen beans wanting to lock something in. (Please note that with uncertain times ahead and not knowing what will happen in the coming months we may be forced to reschedule the event) Thank you for your support and we hope to bring you a great event. Fingers crossed everyone. In the meantime - stay safe, look after one another and hope to see you all at the start line.
