17.01.2022 Let’s talk REST DAYS. This is something lots of highly motivated people really struggle with. If you want results quickly it can be tempting to train and train every day at a high intensity thinking this will achieve BIG results QUICKLY. However, this is a myth we need to bust. Over training or not having adequate rest time can do the exact opposite.... Here’s a few quick reasons why rest days are important: - Overuse injuries are real. Stress fractures, muscle strains and joint pain will force you to stop for a lot longer than a 48-hour rest period - Time off allows your mind to relax - Helps your body properly replace the energy stores in your muscle cells - Overtraining can lead to decreased performance, fatigue, altered hormonal state, poor sleeping, loss of appetite, decreased immunity and mood swings Now that I’ve given you a whole bunch of practical reasons lets talk about the science behind it. Exercise creates two types of stress on your muscles: metabolic stress that comes from depleting the energy stored in individual muscle cells and mechanical stress created by physical damage to the structures of muscle proteins. The body experiences metabolic or mechanical stress during exercise, but it’s during the recovery period that the body repairs the muscle proteins and replaces the glycogen used to fuel the workout. Rest days can allow the circulatory system to perform its job of removing metabolic by-products in muscle cells while delivering the oxygen and nutrients used to help repair damaged tissues. So, what’s the recommendations? 30-60 minutes of moderate exercise 5 days per week OR 20-60 minutes intense sessions 3 times per week. For strength training there should be 48 hours at least between training each muscle group. Getting fit and strong is a SLOW process. Rest days are important. It’s not lazy, you can’t achieve greatness overnight. Slow and steady training with plenty of rest days. CONSISTENCY is what makes the gains. Being consistent with your workout days, rest days and nutrition.

She wants to get every exercise done with perfect technique. We’re happy to slow down and ask questions and we adjust as needed. ... Technique is so important for reducing injury risk and making sure you’re getting the most from each and every exercise!

13.01.2022 H A P P Y S U N D A Y it’s a horribly wet and rainy looking day here in Perth but set me up Sunday must continue!! I love a good weekend with plenty of down time but I love to be prepared for the week ahead. Washing done, tidy house, programs written up for this week. It’s a good feeling to be organised. Being organised helps my mental health soo much. When things start to get chaotic we all look for some kind of routine to help us try and keep it all together. A few simpl...e jobs on the weekend can help your entire week stay on track. When my life is chaotic and the house gets messy and I get behind in my work it adds so much extra stress and pressure each day. I stay up later, I get unfocused, I don’t know which job to start on so I tend to procrastinate and achieve nothing. Set me up Sunday (or when my kids are gone I do it all Saturday and relax on Sunday) helps get my entire week started and sets the vibe for me. So why not chuck on some loud music, crank those heaters, stay inside away from the rain and do a few extra jobs today that’ll set the tone for your whole week!! An organised house = an organised mind

10.01.2022 Celebrate ALL your successes! Today I had a client, a beautiful lady who is absolutely KILLING her gym sessions reach a new goal. She can leg press 90kgs, deadlift 25kgs+, she can bench press 20kgs and she’s so strong physically. Her biggest fear in the entire world was a box jump. She couldn’t do it. Everytime we tried her head would get in the way. Well today. I sprung it on her right at the end. Today was the day we’d conquer that fear. Through all the tears, laughter an...d hesitations she DID IT! And then just because she could, she did it 14 more times. Celebrate your successes. It might be just a box jump to some. But today, it was a massive breakthrough, her one and only fear in the gym has been overcome. I’m so proud! This is what I love most about my job!

06.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day? I had my whole day planned out. A list a mile long of things to do. Posts to make, pictures to accompany my social media posts. I was really looking forward to being vocal and having cool pics to go along with it. R U OK Day is one that I’m passionate about. Mental Health is something that matters so much to me! ... I’ve always had lots to say on days like today. And then at 10:03am R U OK Day hit me hard with a phone call. My entire day got cancelled. Nothing has been done. I spent the whole day on phone call after phone call looking after my family and our personal lives. R U OK Day forced me to stop and spend a day dealing with my own personal issues and had everyone asking me if I was ok. Well I wasn’t. And I’m not. Yet. But all those phone calls helped me to get a whole team around us. Professionals, family, friends. I’m working with a team to fix this. It takes a village. And you need to find that village, build it, value it, respect it and grow with it. And you need to always, ALWAYS be checking in with people. Not just once a year. And not just a quick one-liner across social media. Talk, LISTEN, support, check in. For me, someone remembering and checking in with me a simple how you going after yesterday’s drama literally means the world to me. To know they’ve remembered and taken the time to support me not just in the crisis moment but afterwards as well. That’s the important part. The follow up. See more

It’s a show designed to test your fitness, speed, agility and strength. The producers are looking for more applicants. Obviously my health isn’t up there to participate at the moment (my kids are absolutely gutted I declined the offer) But they have asked me to speak to all my clients to see who’s keen?!
