It’s for the one time per year I get to sit down in the shop I have a range of beautiful transfers for your furniture projects, so much fun and easy to apply. Great for a ‘hero’ piece for your home. 19.01.2022 As if being immersed in nature all week isn’t enough, then comes the weekend and the gardening tools come out. Our front yard is a work in progress with 2 wicking beds, one with a frame for tomato’s and peas @olliella They are a great height for working - no bending over (considering the future cause these beds are so over engineered they are going to be around a lot longer than us!) and particularly good for saving water, these a reservoir in the bottom third of each bed. Considering using the base frame to fill with pebbles to plonk a table on for a brunch spot and convert to another vege patch next year once we’ve got the hang of things. In addition we are putting in a frame for passion fruit with edible flowers around the bottom and a tea garden in an oak barrel to pop next to the beds.

19.01.2022 Back to work tomorrow! The shop will be open 9-4.30 as usual and I’m just taking some time to order fresh flowers to grace the flower bench. I’ve not been going to market, for months now actually, as the social distancing has been non existent and I don’t want to put myself, my family or my customers at risk of Covid. Luckily I have a local farm who source, supply and deliver locally grown blooms to me. Keeping everyone safe. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow kids

18.01.2022 When I first started the shop I worked all hours up to 80 hours a week. I figure most new business owners do the same. But 18 months in I realised how unstainable that was, I was working myself into the ground. It took a lot of pluck to decide to close for a week and take some time out, I didn’t have more than 1 day off in that whole time and sometimes not even that! I thought that I was letting my customers down, that they wouldn’t return and my business would be over. Sound... familiar? Anyway none of that happened and it was business as usual when I opened up again feeling fresh and revived. Take care of you first, if you are overworked it shows. It also helps you to stay in love and enthusiastic about what you do. I’m loving my time off, spending time at home and enjoying the sunshine, my garden and projects I’ve put off for months/years. Great coffee, a selection of delicious cakes including my fave scones (baked fresh each day) with jam and cream and breakfast is yum. Plus the staff are super friendly. There’s a playground for the little ones and dining inside the grand rooms or on the balcony facing the fountain with views over Blowhole Point. While we do love our local cafes we also love ducking in here to avoid the crowds downtown. It’s a winner for us! So interesting so see how different their business model is compared to those of us in the country on the coast or in the suburbs. The advantage of the big city is that you can find your niche and cater exclusively to those customers thanks to the massive population.
