25.01.2022 Thank you so much to these beautiful girls who I had the pleasure of spending time with on Monday night... As part of their girl guides they had to donat...e towards or help out our wildlife and those choose me to come in and do a talk. We spoke about the bush fires, pollution, rubbish and plastic in our oceans and chemicals we use at home. I also shared with them an up close wildlife experience with Chip our Sugar glider, Freddy our Bearded Dragon and Rocco our Olive python... . In return they all brought in some fruit and veggies to put towards feeding our animals! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

21.01.2022 Good news for our Qld Fixed Exhibitors who can soon welcome more guests!

20.01.2022 WEN has continued to fight for the whole of industry to be included in the $94m relief package since its announcement - while we cannot share complete details yet we have had confirmation that no new exhibitors will be added to the list if they do not operate from a fixed address, regardless of their economic contribution to international and interstate trade. We have also seen some members of WEN who are fixed exhibitors be denied a place on the list. WEN has highlighted c...onsistently that there are no controls on the package in its currently advertised form, that there is no incentive for any facility to cut costs during this time if a facility is eligible, and no measurable tool to see who really should be eligible for assistance. We hope that the further detail around these will be released with the list so this package doesn’t just turn into a cash grab for the big fixed exhibitors. We will continue to work with the States to attempt to secure funding for all exhibitors in those states. This fight is long from over. We will send an email to members today about what we can all do to improve our industry case for assistance. See more

14.01.2022 WE HAVE DONE IT! We have received confirmation from David Littleproud MP and Sussan Ley MP that all wildlife exhibitors will be included in the $94 million package announced last night. We are glad that the combined approach from WEN and Zoo and Aquarium Association has had success. All exhibitors who are eligible for membership to WEN or ZAA will be eligible to receive relief grants. We will send out more information as we have it.

11.01.2022 Did you know that WEN members have bred more endangered Southern Cassowary than the rest of the Zoos in Australia combined! You can visit cute little Rex here at Amazement Farm & Fun Park!

10.01.2022 The Federal governments $94 million Wildlife Exhibitor relief package is proving to be nothing more than a stunt to look like the federal government cares. On Tuesday the 28th April WEN sought clarification from Minister Littleproud about who would be eligible, WEN spoke about the industry and its size. Minister Littleproud called Sussan Ley and received confirmation that all licensed exhibitors were eligible and referenced in his press conference that all exhibitors who ar...Continue reading

09.01.2022 The Government marketing scams continue. Today the Victorian State Government announced an $14 million package for Zoos in their state, but here’s the catch - it is for the three Zoos Victoria facilities and Phillip Island Nature Parks. This is an announcement of nothing more than the Victorian State Government announcing they will cover the expenses of the facilities they own. We continue to pursue both Federal and State Governments as to the need for assistance across the whole industry.

08.01.2022 Whilst not written specifically for our industry, it is certainly thought provoking.

04.01.2022 We have had notice from the Queensland State Government today than an assistance package for all exhibitors, who are not eligible or not receiving the Federal Z and A Assistance or Qld Significant Tourism Grants, will be announced this afternoon. This package will be for welfare expenses for animals in our collections. This package is the result of months hard work by the WEN Committee - namely Jackie Hasling and Ben Bawden. Their efforts have been tireless in working for our... industry, ensuring all levels of government were provided with accurate and up to date information. We thank all our members for the support of the committee and all information that was provided to help design potential relief packages. The WEN committee are all volunteers, dedicating their time, whilst managing their own businesses and families. They do not draw a wage or any financial benefit from WEN, in fact they all pay to be members too. We hope that this is the first of many state packages and that other states follow Queensland’s lead and support all sectors of exhibition. We will provide more information to members as it becomes available. See more
