25.01.2022 Wildlife Queensland's Quoll Seekers Network has today launched a new guide that provides information and advice to landholders, natural resource managers and the public about the endangered spotted-tailed quoll. Saving the Spotted-Tailed Quoll: A Landholder’s Guide aims to provide practical ideas that may contribute to saving this elusive species. It seems fitting that this guide is being launched on World Habitat Day; the loss of spotted-tailed quoll habitat is a critical f...actor in the ongoing decline of this species, says Wildlife Queensland Projects Manager Matt Cecil. Taking time today to highlight and reflect on just how important conserving, improving and connecting wildlife habitat is may help to inspire people to do what they can for native Australian wildlife. 25.01.2022 The state and federal governments have given final approval to private equity group Pembroke Resources to clear 5,500 hectares of koala and glider habitat. The impact to native wildlife will be considerable and we fail to see how mitigation through an offset will reduce any net habitat loss in a time of ever-increasing extinction pressure. The government needs to commit to protection (and increasing) of habitat for endangered, vulnerable and near-threatened native species during a well-known and accepted mammalian extinction crisis.
