20.01.2022 Wow wow!! @annbaldwin dirtgirlworld

20.01.2022 Some of you may have seen that there’s a roped off area between Flatrock and Monument Beaches at the moment. There’s a pair of the endangered hooded plovers cur...rently nesting there. Their first nest was unsuccessful, but now they’ve nested again. There are only about 50 of these birds in NSW! So as to give the birds their best chance - please observe the NO DOG signs on these beaches. And, when you can, especially at low tide, if you would please walk out onto the rock shelf between the beaches, that would mean the birds aren’t disturbed off the nest every time someone passes by amd give the eggs the best chance to incubate. Thank you! #animalsneedhomestoo

16.01.2022 Have requested this for a BD pressie.

16.01.2022 Green forest floors aren’t always what they seem. After a bushfire, the green can often be invasive weeds that can rapidly displace native vegetation. That's ex...actly what happened in the Montane Wetlands in the Barrington Tops National Park, Gondwana Rainforests World Heritage Area, with invasive Scotch Broom and Ox-Eye Daisy weeds emerging following last summer's bushfires. But thanks to the Australian Government’s $200 million bushfire recovery fund for animals and plants, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and Hunter Local Land Services teams are successfully tackling these fire-adapted weeds that can continue to spread quickly and vigorously long after a bushfire. These actions are supporting habitat for many native animals including the chubby-cheeked native Broad-toothed rat, identified as an at-risk species following last summer’s bushfires.

10.01.2022 I remember having a wombat burrowing under our house when I was about 5. This is now the reality in many areas. Please call in local experts for help or advice. Awesome work by @wombatcarebundanoon

07.01.2022 1911hrs : This warning is no longer current. DAMAGING WINDS with gusts in excess of 70 km/h, are causing havoc in our area with large trees toppling down on... some houses, as well as across roads and bringing down some powerlines. NSW SES St Georges Basin Unit as well as other emergency services have been tasked with several jobs and are working as quickly as they can to clear roads, restore power etc. Please be mindful to not park under trees during storms and take time to secure all outdoor items. It is expected that these winds will ease later this evening. Grant Ruthven See more
