24.01.2022 For the past few years a pair of Ospreys have nested on a communications tower atop an apartment block in Middle Street Cleveland, a few hundred metres from the Toondah ferry terminal. The chicks are very noisy so for good reason the nest was removed and the ospreys were given a new nest site on a tall pole in North Street, nearby. This morning one of the ospreys was photographed perched on the old nest site, then taking off. The 2021 breeding season will be from about May until September.

13.01.2022 A silent auction to raise funds for saving the Toondah wetlands is being run by BirdLife Australia and Birdlife Southern Queensland. The Goodbye Look’, by Queensland artist Garry Rogers is up for bids. It is a beautiful composition featuring the Eastern Curlew. Garry is a meticulous artist and the detail captured using the subtle medium of graphite is amazing. The auction ends at 11:59pm on 16 November. https://www.networkbirdlife.org/curlew-bsq-2020
