11.01.2022 Even when disposing of rubbish in a bin, it is important to cut anything that is a ring. Rubber bands, hair ties, bottle tops, jar tops and anything thing else that is a RING. Even when disposed of responsibly (let alone when littered) animals can come into contact with them and find themselves trapped. At a landfill, birds, rodents, and dogs will scavenge for food and may become trapped. ... Injuries like these lead to a long, painful death from infection and/or starvation if they aren't found, like this little dude was. If you're a carer or rescuer and need to debrief, please call on 1300 307 111 anytime to debrief or book in for counselling. 10.01.2022 Kangaroos are social animals and the males get very protective of their family groups. Behind the scenes WildTalk contributes to the campaigns to save the Kinley Roos, the koala habitats uder threat on the mid and north coasts and whenever somethings comes up. Why do we do this? In every case we have received calls from locals volunteers, workers and/or residents about their concerns. Of course, client data is ALWAYS kept absolutely confidential, but the mental health impac...t of these decisions is rarely taken into account. We will defend you and fight for you. You are our mob. 1300 307 111 anytime. https://www.facebook.com/809056279106887/posts/3716875128324973/?vh=e&d=n

07.01.2022 There are often posts in community groups asking: 'Is this a cane toad!?' followed by a load of comments, some helpful, some not so, and some downright nasty. Our native frogs are a great sign of a healthy environment and waterways and they need all the help they can get.... Like frogs, those that look after wildlife need all the help they can get. We're here to help support their mental resilience and welllbeing, because, well, you know, they're the best! 1300 307 111 anytime https://www.facebook.com//a.4066204983/10157799848123339/

03.01.2022 Wildlife carers put themselves out there. They put their hearts on the line. They hold their breath as they wait to see if a little one will make it. Sometimes it ends well, but about 60% of the time, it doesn't.... These losses takes it's toll on wildlife carers and that's why WildTalk exists. Please reach out to us if you want to talk about any aspect of caring. We're here on 1300 307 111 anytime. 03.01.2022 A couple of years ago I was called to a snake stuck in a shed. When I arrived the home owner told me that the snake was 'no longer a problem'. upon questioning I discovered that the snake had been decapitated and it's body and head tossed in the recycling bin as rubbish. I fished the body and head of a young, otherwise healthy, Brown Snake out of the bin and took it home as it was evidence in a completely unnecessary murder of wildlife. I curled it up in a restful positio...n with it head in the center before wrapping it carefully in baking paper and tying it with string. Then I popped it in the freezer to preserve it. I reported it to the police and NSW government (as recommended) and nothing was done. My calls and emails not even acknowledged. Why do we have laws in place to protect our native species if no one follows up when they have been broken? Early this year I passed the frozen Brown to local Aboriginal artist and poet Judith Crispin. She created this piece and honoured a life that was ended too soon. ______ If you would like to talk to someone about your frustrations with government policy call 1300 307 111. We might not be able to fix the policy, but we'll let you download and empathise. https://www.facebook.com/100000025300778/posts/3576478199029655/?extid=Ynn3FwBY4dPe8gH7&d=n

03.01.2022 A sad one today. Koala numbers are down massively in recent times due to habitat clearing and bush fires. Please slow down, so the carers and conservationists of this unique and stunning species stands a chance. Situations like this is why WildTalk is needed. The sense of futility, hopelessness, and anger can sometime be overwhelming. We're here for those times and any other time you might need a chat. ...
