25.01.2022 Wild Walkers Tarkine Journeys Coming back to our senses. Tag friends and share... Folks who's keen to join Wild Walkers Tarkine journeys this summer? Eight days of wild perfection with amazing humans, amazing food, and the voice of the wild as a daily companion.. Ww is not for profit and designed the community wellness. On the back of Covid, what better way to regroup, to share, to sit by the fireside and come back to our senses? Share this post around, tag your friends. We are wanting to know numbers and get a sense of how many trips we should plan for. Let us know in the comments like this -I'm Interested - I'm very interested - I'm in. Then we will contact you and yarn. 1. All trips are base camp focused, just a 30 minute walk in, so pack weight is not an issue. We then set up camp and everyone does what they want from there. Head out on day walks, be part of group offerings if you want, go solo if you want, the entire week is yours to choose how you engage. 2. Out there we break into groups, fire crew, water crew, cooking crew and ceremony crew. Everyone plays a role, our goal is to forge the conditions that enable healthy community building. But importantly, you meet the place how you want to. 3.Wild Walkers goal is to bridge nature and culture. You are a part of that. If you want to lead, if you want to offer your gifts to the community, your services, when out there you have a chance to be with a group of people and share yourself, share your life passion. The wild walkers community will get to know you and you can promote your service back to the community, that's our ecological economy. Talk with us about details of that. Our goal is that by the end of the year we can raise 60k of profit for the Tarkine Wild School. So the more trips we run, the more kids benefit. It's an epic win win. 20.01.2022 Hey folks, Progress getting made here. The Wild Walkers logo is now complete, see the image below. We tried this and that and everything in between. How to best capture nature integration with culture? Well, it kept coming back to the Black cockatoo feather. For all of us, the Black cocky is just special. ... It traverses every corner of our state and graces us in our back yards nibbling on our Banksias. Its story is one of being in awe of it in the middle of the Tarkine, but equally awed by it as it flys through our city streets in search of grubs. Hence it feels like a perfectly simple symbol of nature and culture. Down the track, to the left of the logo, we want a human face, with landscape etched into the face, but for now, small steps.. We love the simplicity of it, and it just feels right. Hope your guys like it, we think it will be great on Hoodies, t shirts, hats etc.. Wild Walkers

Darvis Walker is running six month rights of passage journeys for men. The program is called the leap. The first weekend just took place and the men all headed out together to a beautiful wild corner of Tassie. The purpose of the leap is for men to unpack their lives, to forge and refine their life purpose. Over six months, Darvis is guiding these journeys and in the process is podcasting the entire thing. The leap is a raw and honest look inside the world of mens work, the search for meaning and the challenges and obstacles we can overcome with support and a spirit of solidarity. 17.01.2022 This interview piece with a traditional Aboriginal fire practitioner speaks so powerfully of insightful relationship with landscape. Wed love your thoughts here, he really nails it very simply. Traditional Aboriginal Australians were true Wild Walkers. Their identity was forged by place, so the way they engaged with landscape reflected that, deep understanding over deep time. They simply manifested, as we do from their identity and because their identity included landscap...e at its core, they lived in a stunning balance. They were married to landscape, weve divorced it. Thats a simplistic way to put it, but its true and it provides us with a wonderfully simplistic solution.. Remarrying landscape! The truth is were all indigenous, weve all evolved from somewhere. The only difference being that in the Australian example, theyve simply existed here for vast time and hence those that carry their traditions on, also carry vast knowledge of this particular land and how to manage it. Give this fella and his crew control of managing our landscapes, not faceless bureaucrats that have no relationship with place. Its ridiculous. Forging a contemporary indigenous culture The Wild Walker mission is to evolve toward a contemporary indigenous culture. This requires first a practice as community of going back to landscapes. Secondly it requires a deep nurturance of and partnership with traditional Aboriginal Australians liked this man, and countless like him so that we can learn and integrate their wisdom into a collective wisdom. All that we need to achieve this is right in front of us, but its a long game. In the face of the challenges in front of us, we say game on. Wild Walkers

15.01.2022 WE'RE BACK! The unprecedented pandemic of COVID-19 has left us, like most, with a lot of time for reflection. We have been quiet in this space for a while, but behind the scenes have been evolving and growing the Wild Walkers concept in response to these times of change. This post is to provide some clarity of where we're at currently and our intentions for the future. Over the course of the summer we ran a number of fundraising initiatives including our first official journe...y into the Tarkine, a successful crowdfund campaign and a number of smaller ventures. The total funds raised were $12k and have gone into purchase of infrastructure first for Wild Walkers Journeys and to eventually be used in the Tarkine Wild School. This includes an Adapt-a-pod, stay tuned for video on these wondrous contraptions soon. The remaining funds will predominantly go into our website build, where we will soon be launching the Wild Walkers Marketplace. This is another project that has been evolving behind the scenes, look out for an individual post on this soon! We deeply appreciate all the support we have received in slowly but surely bringing this exciting vision to ground.

Shes generously donating her music and time, to be filmed in the landscape by us, in exchange for a WW trip. Her music will be used behind the upcoming WW You tube series. 11.01.2022 Tarkine musical journey - 8 days This is an expression of interest for Musicians who wish to come together this summer in the Tarkine facilitated by the wonderful and deeply groovy Neeko Anita Chorowitz.. This journey is Also for folk who wish to explore music but don't have the confidence, we will create a deeply safe space to play, to unfold and to grow musical expression. Both Neeko and Darvis, Co-facilitator have a deep passion for offering these safe community space...s for music. Neeko is a Melbourne based musician and community facilitator of music. This Thursday night, Darvis is taking the amazing Georgia shine into the Tarkine for five days of filming her playing Cello, both in the forest and the coast. About WW Wild Walkers is a not for profit organisation designed to serve the community as a bridge between nature and culture. The Wild Walkers you tube series captures the movement, the people and the vision as it naturally unfolds. Each year as a community we go into the Tarkine and spend 8 days on the Tarkine coast, sitting around base camp, relaxing, 30 minutes walk in, making the landscape our home, warm fire, good food.. All profits go toward building a wild school for at risk youth.
