24.01.2022 Trying different things

24.01.2022 Another perfect peice of paradise away from cars and people for our babies to live their best life ,surrounded by a thousand or more acres of rainforest . Featuring natural water holes ,shelter and lots of the good stuff (natural/rainforest foods) .. This place is virtually untouched by humans ,which is perfect for the Agiles , even those who are little humanised can come out here and learn to be wild .... Thanks guys , we absolutely love your slice of paradise ... Definitely makes for a nice release when you can see the joeys are happy to be there :) See more

22.01.2022 Again , please please help if you can . Our Dingoes really get a hard time over here https://www.mycause.com.au//establishing-a-dingo-education

20.01.2022 So I thought long and hard about sharing this video due to the critism that flies around within the wildlife care world but this morning I decided it would be incredibly selfish of me to keep this just for myself and close circle of friends . So here goes . Darby is doing incredibly well , so well infact that the BIG things he's doing make my HUGE aviary look incredibly small; tomorrow Darby will be moved onto the pre-release yard , where he will have enough room to do all t...he things he wants to do .. I have taught him "wings" in an attempt to build flight muscles in those big heavy wings ...and as you can see from this amazing video he got it straight away . I flap , he flaps , we flap together ;) *sound turned off because I was very excited and proud and you could hear it in my voice (very annoying high pitched, so I spared you all lol) See more

19.01.2022 And on the way to soft release with the joeys we dropped these lil cuties to their new Mumma and OMG their enclosure is something pretty special...

18.01.2022 Soooo we now have a definite ID on these guys from the Australian Museum (Rattus Rattus) and while it wasnt what wed been hoping for . I have refused to have them euthanized just because they are what they are . I spent afew days making new contacts and finding rat rescues all over Australia and today am very comfortable in my decision to rehome them with a lovely family who has experience with non natives and will keep them as part of their crew . Bye bye babies , I honest...ly cant believe how quickly you have grown.. Have a good life kids ;) *this was my personal choice ,others may not agree with it and thats okay but please remember what your Mumma taught you and if you have nothing nice to say ,say nothing ...

18.01.2022 An endangered Speckled Flying Fox that one of our amazing bat rescuers saved this morning from a barbed wire fence . I think its time I got vaccinated so I can care for these beautiful babies ..thanks for calling him in Dimity :)

Is there anyone near Cardwell travelling North through Tully today , that would be happy to pick a baby bird up and drop it off to me ?

16.01.2022 Pretty lil Birdie Rainbow Bee-eaters eat insects. They catch them on their wings in flight and carry them back to a perch to beat them ,before swallowing them. They rub bees and wasps against the perch to remove the stings and venom glands..... Pretty cool lil birdie This lil guy seems to have a sore wing , bit of RnR and he should be back in the wild :)

16.01.2022 So much for No Jumping on the bed :/ Sara-Leigh just cant help herself.. Poor Harry just watches in awe as she races around hopping on and off the bed and doing donuts between the den and nursery . Ohhhh how I have missed these little cuties , they have been staying with their 'Nutha Mutha' Marijke for the last few nights while we were in hospital after my youngest daughter broke her arm quite badly falling out of her favourite climbing tree .. Nice to have these little lunatics home , even if they jump on the bed

15.01.2022 Happy World Cassowary day everyone , To celebrate heres a video I took awhile back of a young Cassowary having a swim with us at our local water hole ..

12.01.2022 Huge shout out to my good mate Kera for her 1st joey rescue, Kera has been pouch checking for quite some time now and this morning I got the emotional call to say she had found little "Poko" and successfully removed him from his deceased mothers pouch . Its incredibly hard to put into words the feeling you get when you finally find one still alive , your whole body instinctively springs into action .. Kera did amazingly ,whipping off her shirt to wrap him up and keep him wa...rm ..and calling me straight away.... I also need to thank my mate Tarnya for going to meet up with Kera for pick up as I had abit of a big night last night and was in no state to leave my bed just yet ... So this is little "Poko" , a very lively 300g pinky Agile Wallaby not far off velveting , he took to the bottle straight away and seems to be in extremely good health ,apart from afew grazes, he is a very chubby bubby .... 07.01.2022 WARNING GRAFFIC CONTENT BEWARE BEWARE , SCROLL ON . Its heart breaking ! This beautiful older agile joey was hit sometime this morning on Merryburn drive .... He was left as if unseen for god knows how long in the pouring down rain in the middle of the road ,with a shattered spine , collapsed lung , head and facial injuries , bleeding from his legs , tail , nose and mouth . Unable to even drag himself off the road. He was Left there ! On the cold hard road. He didnt stand a chance but he didnt have to lay there in agony all that time. THANK YOU TO THE BEAUTIFUL MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC THAT CALLED HIM IN . There was plenty of action on merryburn drive this morning but I only received 1 phone call about him . I jumped in the car and rushed there , bundled him up and went directly to the vet sitting on my lap ,to end his suffering . I just cant stress enough how special and gentle these animals are , they have families just like us and love them as we do . Please please please just call or text me 0474205500 if you hit one , theres no shame in it . I completely understand how unavoidable it is sometimes , I have seen them run directly into the side of cars . Its okay ! BUT it is NOT okay to just leave them there to die a slow painful death . Please call or text any time 0474205500
