21.01.2022 Where To Now? Now that I’ve come out of hiding, my fears are forgetting to be afraid.... Now that I’ve dropped my opinions in the rain, my story is too small to cover my heart. Now that I’ve put down what I thought was important, I’m surprised by angels lost along the way. How we got here doesn’t matter and where we’re going is just something for the mind to chew. I’ll meet you here, in the palace that difficulty opensthe magical doorway, the shape of who we are. Mark Nepo What a big decade! This decade has seen me discover yoga, the guide I use to navigate life. It has seen me break my own heart, and the hearts of those around me to be where I am today. And honestly, if I knew how hard it was going to be I probably wouldn't have been able to do it, but ask me if I would do it again and it would be a yes, without hesitation. It has seen me loose the man in the world who loves me the most, only to learn that they never really go away. That without all the trivialities of life to get in the way his love and support can be felt even more deeply. I have seen my children move into adulthood; confident, kind and fully engaged in life . My grand daughter has arrived with all the bliss, innocence and heart expansion that words cannot express. I am proud that she has a family that surrounds her in love. I have connected with past loves that proves real love never dies and new connections that prove energy is real. And it has seen dreams lingering in the back of my mind, that I was almost too scared to think about, come true. And so my biggest take home from this decade is to follow your heart. Really, please, follow your heart. Do the practices that work for you, to clear the mind, so that those little nuggets of wisdom can shine through. And then follow it. Even if it doesn't make sense, even if it's risky and scary and hard at times; don't doubt yourself, all the support you need will come. So a very big grateful THANK YOU to life and to every one of you who have 'shaped' me. Where to now????? xxx

13.01.2022 Black Sesame Oil is liquid gold. When I have bottles of this in my cupboard I feel rich! Life has been asking me to refine my lifestyle further lately and so I have fallen in love with one of my FAVOURITE regular Ayurvedic rituals, Abhyanga or oil massage. You don't need to go to a therapist for this, it is even nicer, and effective to do regularly yourself at home. This magic oil is safe for everyone and can go EVERYWHERE! Slip, slop and slap it all over your body, incl...uding the ears and nose to keep your sense organs happy and healthy. Hold it in your mouth or gargle with it (sounds yukky but really it isn't) to clean and moisten the teeth and gums and it will also help your sinuses. If you need a little lift, massage some into your scalp (not just the hair but including the hair) take some slow deep breaths and I promise you will be smiling again in no time. This is great when you have some tension in your neck or feeling a bit sluggish. I usually try to do this when it's time to wash my hair. Once you have slathered it all over, take a warm bath or shower. At night it will be calming and help you sleep, in the morning you will feel energised for the day. If you have time, leave it on and do a few yoga moves to really let it sink into your joints, skin and muscles. If you don't have time just massage the area that needs some attention (low back, neck etc), do some simple moves and wash off or just massage the soles of your feet put on some socks and it will help you sleep. Yes it's messy but you can keep towels and clothes especially for this - really it's worth the effort. In Ayurveda this is called Snehana, which means love therapy, how nice is that? The list of benefits is endless so warm some oil and show yourself some love, its no fun being dry and crackly in the body or the mind. See more

10.01.2022 When I’m going to study yoga in India, people ask me if I’m going to an Ashram. But it’s not really as exotic as that . It’s full days, spent in the busy, noisy city of Chennai. In an apartment that Dr NC used to share with his mother, which is now home to his yoga school and yoga therapy clinic. It is a small group of students from all over the world, joined by his wife, children and friends all keen to uncover the secrets of Yoga. Two whole weeks of sutras, ‘Om’, Nataraja, chakras, prana, vayus, chanting and practice. For me it’s been heaven!
10.01.2022 The whole thing is there, you see. The world of space and time, and matter and energy, the world of creation and destruction, the world of psychologyWe (the West) don’t have anything remotely approaching such a comprehensive symbol, which is both cosmic and psychological, and spiritual. Aldous Huxley, 1961 A symbol represents more than words can express and can take us beyond what we see or know. Well, Nataraja is the symbol of Yoga. His dance represents the very nature o...f life, the rhythm of the universe and acceptance that everything is always changing. He represents our own intense, incessant and perfect dance that lies deep within our own Anandamayam, our true nature of inner joy and bliss. A dance, which once uncovered brings harmony and balance to our lives and to the universe. Chidambaram (which means space of consciousness) is a temple town I have been dying to visit ever since I heard the story of Nataraja. So this trip to Southern India saw me flying 15 hours and driving through the night to arrive in Chidambaram at 7 o’clock in the morning. I was just a few days late, as I had messed up my visa and actually didn’t think I would make it in time. But all the messages that needed to be received and everything that needed to happen did and I made it - just in time for the festivities phew! It was in Chidambaram that Indian sage, Patanjali, saw and experienced this Dance of Bliss in the form of Nataraja. And it was from this experience that he gave us the Yoga Sutras as a guide to reach our own state of yoga. So to visit this temple was incredibly special. I love mystery and this temple did not disappoint. It is a living functioning space full of hidden messages, ancient wisdom, ancient history and pulsing with energy. Hmmmmmm Sunday morning reflection. Thank you for the most magical day Ray of Light Yoga Selvaganesan Rajasekar.
09.01.2022 Following your sva dharma, your life purpose, can be as simple as making the perfect chai. Do it with your heart and you will make everyone smile.

05.01.2022 So many random moments in Sri Lanka . These guys had as much fun with us as we had with them as Nanette captured this shot. There is still space if you’d like to join Indies Adventures and I in June 2020.
05.01.2022 From now on this is where you will find me. Yes, I am going online . I am pretty much jumping in the deep end with this one so there will be a few laughs as we all try and work this out. And after a test class last night I think this could be quite a bit of fun. Zoom was really easy to use and interactive, so we will be able to log into the classes 10-15 mins before it starts to chat about the day and you can entertain me with all your lockdown stories, just like we always do. I will be teaching for all my favourite studios Brisbane Yoga Space, Soho Yoga and Cultivate Calm so check them out! First class is 10am Thursday with BYS. Lets get though this as best we can xx.
