24.01.2022 Out on the spanners today to repair a leaking fire-water system on-board the tugboat Svitzer Palmerston, even got a quick run into the harbour to give the system a check, My wife took a pic of us with the water wings out, from her office window in the city! Fire-water system is 100 %! Good to be back in an engine room!

19.01.2022 So here we are with part 2 of the duplex impeller reclamation, after the weld process was carried out in the bore it required machining Back into spec, the bore diameter had a tolerance of + 0.03mm, -0.00. Which was easily achieved in our manual centre lathe, after that it was sent to our 1950s Swedish built shaper to have the keyway recut. this machine is old but runs like a clock and you won’t find anything built as solid these days! After shaping the impeller is hand dressed to remove all burrs, a dimensional report is completed and it’s now ready for the client to put back into service. Unfortunately in all the excitement i forgot to take a pic of the finished product! I’ll work on that for next time. thanks folks. Kev

17.01.2022 Need a twin disc gearbox coupling for your pearling vessel? No problem, come see the team at Wilko’s.

10.01.2022 Another milestone reached - We now have our own Wilkinson engineering Qualified weld procedure to AS1554:1 SP, and our welders are qualified to run it. Using this weld and welder qual we have just completed a set of Turbine stands for G.E Energy. These stands will support a 45 ton turbine rotor which will be used at the Ord river hydro system.

08.01.2022 Gearbox repair work completed at Wilkos last week. Box came in locked up, both mainshaft bearings had seized and dropped rollers causing a lot of internal damage. A bit of elbow grease, big hours and skill later, box was repaired and like new within a 48 hour turn around. great work from the fellas.

08.01.2022 Congratulations to our amazing team here at Wilkinson Engineering for winning at the Northern Territory Chief Ministers Industry and Service awards last night!

07.01.2022 Cant buy parts to rebuild mechanical equipment? Wilkinson engineering can manufacture a wide range of mechanical parts, just bring in the old worn or broken sample and we will knock out a new one! This splined drive dog is an excellent example, this was manufactured in one setup. The spline, external drive dogs and helical face are all timed or in phase with each other and was machined completely in our CNC live tooled c axis control lathe

06.01.2022 Manufactured these stainless steel split nuts for the FPSO INPEX Ventura to solve an engineering issue onboard. Custom component manufacture Darwin. Well done to the Wilko team.

05.01.2022 Wilkinson engineering manufactured this valve actuator adapter which converts axial movement into linear movement, assisting our client to utilise components currently available, saving valuable time and money. Solving complex engineering issues daily.

03.01.2022 Reclamation of this duplex impeller, Part 1. The impeller bore diameter was oversize and at the end of its service limit, rather than throwing it away, it’s in for some wilko treatment! The first stage is to bore it slightly oversize, this bore is 70mm diameter 220mm deep so no chance of welding by hand! We use a purpose built bore welder to give excellent weld consistency throughout the entire length of the bore, which speeds up not only the weld time but also the machining time and tooling wear/damage. Stay tuned for Part 2 next week- re-machining back into spec.

03.01.2022 Gday all, Well its been a long time since we have posted due to Kev getting rid of F/B! But we are now back on track to giving you all interesting engineering updates from the Wilko company page. We will start here with our last job at the Darwin Port. This Radome Satnav frame shown was extended by half a meter to allow the fast rescue craft to deploy with a bit more clearance! The team worked round the clock to get this done efficiently and safely allowing the seismic vessel Polacus Asima to sail within 1.5 days.

01.01.2022 G'day all, looking for more quality tradesman to keep up with our busy work load.
