10.01.2022 About 12 months ago, I was drawn to a new selling process called Openn Negotiation. I told my friends and colleagues I was going to take a risk and implement it into my real estate business. I was met with reactions such as 'why would you fix something that's not broken' and 'no one (clients) will want to try something new'. For some reason, even though I believed what I was hearing, I felt a stronger 'why' and pursued it anyway. Little did I know that it would transform my ...business in such a short space of time. My Vendors were achieving fantastic results, buyers were embracing the transparency and I started selling properties in half the time. Just when I thought that was as good as it could get, I started to get to know the people behind Openn. I could sense we were aligned in our morals and vision. They created Openn to remove the issues between agents and consumers (lack of trust) and their personalities reflected the same intent. After some discussions, an opportunity was presented to me. After 16-years in real estate, I thought it would take a long time to dwell and ponder on the decision but rightly or wrongly, I went with my gut, as I always do, and took on a role with the business. It just felt right. If I say I wasn't nervous (shitting myself), I'd be lying - but I felt alive when thinking about the change. I've now been working with the Openn team for 8 weeks and I am consistently blown away by their professionalism, integrity and humility. I am learning so much about how a tech business is run. I love that each individual has been hired for their unique skill set and qualification which results in trust that each of us will execute their part. From a personal point of view, I am working from home full time with complete autonomy. It provides me with the freedom to do what I need to play my part, while allowing me more quality time with my family. I never really knew what a weekend was but I'm now starting to understand how important it is to have two days off in a row to refresh and spend time with loved ones. My wife and I still pinch ourselves and have a little chuckle that this opportunity has presented itself, we simply can't believe how 'lucky' we are. My advice for anyone who feels strongly about a new journey that might feel scary but also feel right is to trust your gut and have a crack. You only get one chance at life so take a risk and see where it lands you.
