16.01.2022 Hi all Thank you all for following along over the last couple of weeks as the boys and girls got the recognition they deserve for all the hard work and fun they... had over the 2019/20 season. Dont be afraid to share and like all the posts so everyone knows where to go to find out about cricket in the south east region. The AGM for the association will be at 19:30 on 15 July 2020 at Ray Owen Reserve, restrictions permitting. Cricket next summer might look a little different, however the fabric of our great sport remains the same. As an association were excited to support the thousands of boys and girls who take to the cricket fields every week. We have had enormous growth across all boys and girls teams and are committed to retaining these young cricketers and continuing to assist our fantastic South East clubs recruit the next generation of cricket stars. The core of the committee Adam Sutton (President), Simone Northcott (Girls Coordinator) and Scott Gleadhill (Treasurer) will all be renominating for these positions again. It is likely that more help will be required this season to fill other executive positions and general committee roles. You dont need to be active on your club committee to join the SEMJCC committee, any member can sign up and get involved in assisting the local cricket community, it really is rewarding and a lot of fun. If you think you might have something to offer or are just curious about the workings of the association please come along. If you have any questions about the roles available or any other matter relating to the SEMJCC you can call Adam Sutton on 0402 224 727. Regards SEMJCC Executive

09.01.2022 RECONCILIATION ROUND This week we will be acknowledging Reconciliation Round, along with cricket clubs and cricket teams around the nation. This is our moment t...o show our players the importance of reconciliation, the power of connection and the perspectives of our friends and heroes, such as Darcy Short of the Mitakoodi mob. We are encouraging all teams to take time before our games this weekend to form a Barefoot Circle to demonstrate our commitment to reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. The Barefoot Circle is a cricket centric way for players and teams to take a moment prior to our matches to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, connect to each other as opponents and pay respect to the country (land). This is done barefoot as a way to connect to country, but also a moment to reflect that we are all common ground, we are all human beings and we need to stand strong with each other, for each other. The circle is often part of pre-series activities and has started in Reconciliation Round as a stance of anti-racism, commitment to reconciliation and strength together. We hope you encourage all your players to enjoy this moment of reconciliation and reflection. Barefoot Circle - What to do 1. Print out the sheet from the link below 2. Take off your shoes and socks before the game 3. Form a circle with the other team 4. Have a captain or coach Acknowledge Country and read of one of the three example statements https://mcusercontent.com//e/Barefoot_Circle_One_Pager.pdf #reconciliationround
08.01.2022 Before we get on to the premiership winners here is an update from Cricket Australia on the latest regarding COVID-19 Dear Australian Cricket Family, ... Like all sporting bodies, Cricket Australia and State & Territory Associations are collectively planning for a return to play as soon as possible and we are encouraged with the recent news from the Northern Territory Government announcing its plans to lift COVID-19 restrictions in the Territory. This roadmap includes a phased return to training and play over the next month and we will work closely with NT Cricket to develop appropriate, cricket-specific guidelines for clubs and associations. These will be housed on the NT Cricket website once developed. While this latest news is encouraging, we are still yet to confirm what the plan for returning to play will look like for winter competitions across the rest of the country. The National Cabinet has now released of a set of 15 principles along with a framework from the Australian Institute of Sport for rebooting sport in a COVID-19 environment. Over the coming weeks we will monitor how these are considered by each state and territory government and any subsequent changes to restrictions that are currently in place. As and when restrictions are lifted, we will seek advice from medical experts including our own Chief Medical Officer, Dr. John Orchard and relevant government agencies to support the community with relevant protocols and guidelines that allow community cricket to recommence as early and as safely as possible. We will ensure that those coordinating and participating in community cricket matches, training, programs and events are provided with clear and sensible advice to protect the safety of all participants, volunteers and communities. We will provide a further update to the cricket community no later than 15 May, 2020. For the traditional summer cricket season, we are also working closely with other National and State Sporting Organisations to establish season guidelines to assist the transition from winter to summer codes for our respective communities and volunteers. In related news, Australian Cricket has thrown its support behind the Australian Governments new contact tracing app - COVIDSafe which was released to the public over the weekend. The COVIDSafe app will play a critical role in helping slow the spread of coronavirus which will mean governments can move more quickly to ease restrictions while still keeping communities safe and we can return to playing as soon as possible. Stay safe, Belinda Clark Executive General Manager, Community Cricket Cricket Australia

06.01.2022 The changeroom building at Burrendah Reserve (immediately behind the new Basketball Stadium) was built almost 50 years ago and is well overdue for an upgrade. It is used by the junior and senior football club, junior, senior and social cricket clubs and soccer club. We are working closely with the WJFC to update these facilities for a shared use for our kids.... Can I please ask everyone to sign the petition to upgrade our sporting facilities. https://www.petition.org.au/burrendah-park/
