22.01.2022 We have a motivated Safety House Coordinator who would like to recruit some new Safety House Families in the Willetton area to provide a safe environment for our children. The Safety House program is likely familiar to many parents who grew up in Australia in the 80s and 90s! Our P&C Supports this program as a great way to help promote a sense of safety and community for our children as they make their way to and from school and venture out in the neighbourhood.... We would like to see if we can get more families to support this program. Check out the website for further details and eligibility requirements. What do you think? Would you be a safety house? Comment below, share away or email us at [email protected] www.safetyhousewa.org.au/

Were always looking for CANTEEN VOLS on Wednesdays and Fridays (contact [email protected]) and SCHOOL BANKING HELP for a Friday morning (contact [email protected]) WHAT IS A P&C? P&C stands for parents and citizens, which means anyone reading this newsletter! P&C Associations are an officially recognised forum where anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in the welfare of government schools can meet to discuss educational issues. The objects of an association are to promote the interests of the school for which it is formed through: (a) cooperation between parents, teachers, students and members of the general community; (b) assisting in the provision of resources, facilities and amenities for the school or schools; and (c) the fostering of community interest in educational matters. School Education Act 1999, part 3, division 8, subdivision 2, section 143 (1). P&Cs give parents and other members an opportunity to learn about the schools policies and programs; organise ways in which parents can share in shaping and developing school policies; bring parents together to share information and views; assist the school in building positive attitudes to students and their families; help raise funds to provide extra resources (reference). Yes, this means that P&C are important enough to be included in the Education Act of the WA Parliament! It also means that we are about more than just fundraising. Were passionate about making our school community a happy, inclusive and safe environment, because thats how our kids learn best. If that sounds like something you would like to be part of, then reach out and say hi to find out how!
