24.01.2022 Yesterday we made an important announcement. Next year, kinder will be free. This will save parents around $2,000. This means more kids getting early education and an easier return to the workforce, especially for women. ... We're also increasing the availability of before and after school care. Up to 400 more schools across Victoria can apply for a grant to start an outside schools hours care program if they don’t have one. Because every child deserves the best possible education.

24.01.2022 Recently we unveiled a $465 million Victorian Tourism Recovery Package to help both tourism and regional Victoria bounce back, including a $28 million initiative to encourage us to travel regional this summer. Victorians will be able to apply for the vouchers as long as they spend at least $400 on accommodation, attractions or tours in regional Victoria. The scheme is expected to be up and running in December, ensuring the benefits are felt this summer when businesses need it most.

14.01.2022 This is a Budget, and a Government, that puts people first. And in Burwood, there's many ways we are doing just that. I'll be sharing more about these projects in the coming days but for now, check out this list of things we are getting done

14.01.2022 The Victorian Budget 2020/21 will invest an unprecedented nearly $1.6 billion to make sure students with disability are supported in the classroom through an Australian first Disability Inclusion package. The record investment will transform support for students with disabilities in Victorian government schools doubling the number of students receiving extra support in the classroom to 55,000 and is expected to create up to 1,730 jobs across the state by 2025. For studen...ts, this will mean more opportunities to promote their own strengths, interests and learning needs, and the support they need at school. With additional funding, schools will be able to better plan and adjust support for students throughout all stages of their schooling. This'll make school more accessible, more inclusive and ultimately, a better and more enjoyable experience for all.

12.01.2022 The AstraZeneca vaccine approval is *really big news*: - it’s being manufactured locally (in Melbourne!) - it doesn’t rely on extreme (-70) cold storage so can be safely administered by GPs and at pharmacies - much less wastage as it’s stable in the fridge - no age limitation... - highly effective - no adverse outcomes from pregnant recipients Congratulations to the TGA on all of their hard work in getting a vast body of data reviewed.

11.01.2022 If you’re aged between 12 and 25 we want to hear about your hero and why they inspire you! Let us know at https://my-hero.com.au/ and they’ll be illustrated by an emerging artist. Plus, we can better understand your values and create a Victorian Youth Strategy that best represents you.

10.01.2022 A number of constituents have contacted me regarding the proposed draft boundaries of the Surrey Hills-Mont Albert Level Crossing Removal Project. As explained by my colleague Paul Hamer MP "A draft project boundary is required to be prepared as part of the project’s planning approvals process. The inclusion of land within the project boundary does not mean the land will be required during construction. No decisions have been made on the extent or duration of use of any loc...al sporting grounds." Based on community interest the LXRP has extended the deadline for submissions a further two weeks (until 28 Feb) and I strongly encourage all residents to consider making a submission. Submissions can be made here: https://engage.vic.gov.au/.../surrey-hills-and-mont... Maps showing the draft project boundary can be found here: https://engage.vic.gov.au/download_file/39479/4938"

06.01.2022 Today the Victorian Labor Government delivered the 2020/21 Budget. This is a Budget to repair, recover and make us stronger than before. This is a Budget, and a Government, that puts people first. You can find my press release by following the link in the comments below

06.01.2022 Each year on 11 November, Remembrance Day, we pause to remember those men and women who have served in all wars, and pay our respects to them. This year also marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the World War Two. 75 years ago, as thousands of Victorian veterans returned home to join their families and their friends, thousands more never made the journey home. This Remembrance Day we honour their memory, and the memory of all who have served, as we reflect on their sacrif...ice and the importance of homecoming. Lest we forget. As we continue our gradual easing of restrictions, Remembrance Day will look different this year. While we are unable to gather together at the Shrine, there are ways we can, and should, honour the memory of all those who have served, along with their families. Victorians are encouraged to pause for a minute’s silence at 11am today, Wednesday 11 November, and to join the Shrine’s online service at 10.45am, which will be livestreamed on the Shrine of Remembrance Facebook and YouTube channels. Register your attendance at https://www.shrine.org.au/remembrance-day-2020 You can also learn about veterans’ stories and join the online exhibitions and events to recognise Remembrance Day and the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII in a COVID-safe way by visiting: https://www.vic.gov.au/75th-anniversary-end-world-war-two-w #remembranceday

06.01.2022 Good luck to every Burwood VCE student sitting their exams today and over the coming weeks. It's been a tough year and we all couldn't be more proud of you.

06.01.2022 Today I met with Principal Brett Moore and students of Ashwood High School to announce a whopping $9.724 Million investment in upgrades for the school. With a brand new Senior School STEM and Research Centre, a new entrance, and new car-parking for the Waverley District netball courts, Ashwood High continues to grow and improve through investments by the Andrews Labor Government.
