18.01.2022 8 things you should NEVER leave in your car! 1. Glasses: First up: glasses and sunglasses. If you’re thinking, I have a pair of sunglasses in my car right now, don’t panic. This rule is really only applicable if it’s a particularly sunny or warm day. Leaving glasses on your dashboard can cause the plastic to melt, warping your precious specs. Metal frames could become too hot to touch (let alone too hot to wear) due to the way that the windshield attracts and traps sunligh...Continue reading

03.01.2022 Overheating is frequently considered a summertime problem. When the mercury rises outside and the temperature becomes nearly unbearable for people, it’s easy to think that your car is more susceptible to overheating. Your car is built to dissipate that heat, no matter what season it currently is. The engine’s cooling system regulates the engine temperature quite effectively if it’s working properly. So if you find yourself in the driver’s seat when the temperature gauge sta...rts to climb into the danger zone (the red zone, or ‘H’), keep these five tips in mind. 1. Stop the engine immediately Pull over to a safe place at the side of the road and turn the engine off. Engine damage can result if you continue to drive while it’s overheating. The engine fans may continue even with the engine off, so just wait it out for a while, until the gauge returns to the normal zone. 2. Never open the radiator cap when the engine is hot The temperature gauge measures the coolant temperature. If it’s overheating, that means the engine coolant is extremely hot. It’s also under pressure and can spray super-hot coolant on you when you undo the cap. Only open the cap when the engine has completely cooled. 3. Check for mechanical problems If there is a coolant leak under the car, whether from the radiator, a hose, or an engine part, you know you’re going to require immediate repairs. Once the engine has cooled, you can add coolant to the radiator which may get you to your destination safely. If the engine’s drive belt has broken or is badly frayed, the repair is probably simple yet quite urgent. It’s not recommended to drive without a drive belt as the vehicle alternator may not be charging the battery and the water pump may not be operating. If operated in this condition, major engine damage will occur! 4. Turn off unnecessary accessories If you decide to continue on once your engine has cooled, turn off your air conditioning to reduce engine strain. If the temperature starts to creep up close to the red zone again, try turning the heat fully on, which may keep your engine temperature a little cooler. 5. Have your vehicle inspected It’s important to have your vehicle inspected as soon as possible, as continuing to operate your car whilst its overheating will cause major engine damage and may lead to you having to replace the whole engine.

02.01.2022 What is a Cabin Air Filter and Why do we change it. The Cabin Air Filter, a feature found on most late-model vehicles, cleans the air that comes into the interior through the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. It catches dust, pollen and other airborne material that can make riding in a car unpleasant. We believe that you should Breathe the Cleanest air possible INSIDE your Vehicle. The quality of air we breathe is important to our health. The air inside our ve...hicles has been found to have a much higher concentration of pollutants than in the air just outside the vehicle - up to 10 times in some cases. Sufferers of asthma, allergy and other respiratory problems are especially at risk when concentrations of pollutants are elevated inside the vehicle. Contaminants in the air such as pollen, fungus spores, dirt and dust pass unfiltered into the passenger cabin, along with the air intake and can trigger asthma, allergies, headaches, nausea, fatigue and giddiness. IMAGE: This is just one of the many Cabin Air Filters that we have replaced recently.

02.01.2022 Tyres are critical to a vehicles handling and traction, and maintaining proper pressure is vitally important to vehicle safety. Under-inflated tyres are under stress and will wear unevenly, causing them to need to be replaced sooner. Routinely checking tyre balance and wheel alignment reduces tyre wear, improves handling, and increases fuel economy. The P.A.R.T guide: P - Pressure; Regularly check your tyre pressures.... A - Alignment; It is recommended that you get your vehicle aligned at least once a year. R - Rotate; Rotating tyres every 10,000km will give you longer lasting tyres and even treadwear. T - Tread; Make sure your tread hasn't worn below the tread indicators, or use a Tread Depth tool to make sure tread is within safe and legal limits. GT Radial Tread-Depth Tools are available at Williams Garage - Euroa Tyre Service.
