14.01.2022 Travel Advice. Many areas of the state continue to be affected by smoke from nearby fires, reducing visibility and posing a hazard, especially at night and in l...ow-lying areas. If you're hitting the road, please use your headlights on low-beam to make sure you can see and be seen, even during the day. You should keep your windows closed and switch your air-flow set to re-circulation to reduce the smell of smoke inside your car. Please increase the space between yourself and the vehicle in front to allow safe braking distance, just as you'd do in heavy rain. If visibility deteriorates and it becomes unsafe to continue driving, you should pull over safely. Using your hazard lights and making sure you're clear of the roadway will help avoid collisions, which are common during bushfires.
