19.01.2022 Congratulations and well done to Layla Pretoris, U11 and her dad Johan, who performed her first rescue yesterday at Willy beach. Layla noticed that a boy who had fallen off his kayak was having trouble getting back on as well as floating quickly out past the rock wall in the strong northerly wind. Layla who was on her nippers board, offered her services to the boys mother who quickly accepted, and another potential tragedy avoided. We are all very proud of you Layla and Johan. I have been told that they will be featured on the 6.30pm Channel 7 news tonight!

18.01.2022 ‘Williamstown Life Saving Club Retro’ recreated by Amelia Peace & Kaye Smith. The yellow bathers were brand new in the very late 50s... we didn’t swim in those...... they were kept solely for the event which was the ‘march-past’. We knew we looked impressive. Nola Wilson (nee Speakman), long time member and supporter of WSLSC Williamstown Swimming & Life Saving Club Inc are celebrating their centenary in 2020! See and hear more of Nola’s memories of wearing the original bathing costume on Friday, 20 Nov at 8pm. Get your FREE e-ticket here: https://industrialfashion.eventbrite.com.au Dancers: Jessica Apap, Brydie Read, Cooper Read The Art & Industry Festival is proudly supported by Creative City Hobsons Bay

16.01.2022 Dear members, We are delighted to announce that tomorrow we will open the Club Pool for the first time for the 2020/21 season! We will be opening the pool TOMORROW 22nd November between 2pm-4pm. ... We are very excited that this can happen, a big thank you to Gerry, Jai and Alex for putting in the work to get this up and running! The following conditions will apply (these will change according to State Government restrictions): - Every person wanting to use the Club Pool MUST register via the QR Code system BEFORE accessing the Club Pool. This includes all adults, children and guests of members. - There will be a maximum of 50 people allowed in the pool at any one time. This will mean that if there are 50 people in the pool, no more will be allowed into either the Pool area or the Pool itself. If you are in the pool, please be mindful of other people who wish to use the pool and limit your time accordingly. - There will be NO people allowed on the grassed area around the pool (current restrictions do not allow for 'spectators' within swimming pool areas). You may leave your towel/bag on the grass during your swim, but you cannot linger/get changed/hang out in the Club Pool area. - Children between 10 and 15 years of age MUST have a parent within the vicinity of the Club Pool (on Club Grounds/on beach area within 50m of Club grounds) - Children under the age of 10 years MUST have a parent/supervisor IN the water with them at all times (not supervising from the pool deck), or you will be refused entry/asked to exit the Pool - Children under the age of 5 years MUST have a parent/supervisor within arm's reach at all times - A 'supervisor' must not be below the age of 16 years. - Lifeguards ARE NOT babysitters, they are there for the safety of the entire pool. We are looking forward to getting the Club Pool open and providing opportunities for members to use this great facility!

16.01.2022 Great to see some of our members working on their health and fitness with David from Top Boxing Fitness this morning! Sessions are run at the Club by David on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at a reduced rate for members (COVID requirements in place). For more information, email David at [email protected]

14.01.2022 The club is working towards providing a nipper program at some stage during the 2020/21 season. It is doubtful that it will begin prior to the end of the school year. We are very reliant on the Covid restrictions as they are released by the Victorian Government. The nipper program is classified as a 'mass gathering' as opposed to your everyday sport like basketball or cricket. We need it to be allowed to have mass gatherings of at least 100 before any consideration is give...n to a program and this would be running 1 or 2 age groups at a time. Any program that we run will need parental support and involvement. Please email [email protected] to register your interest. All training is provided. We appreciate your patience and support and more information will be distributed when it comes to hand. For information regarding memberships, please email [email protected]

14.01.2022 What a cracking summer’s day at Williamstown Beach! Our volunteer patrollers are there to keep you safe 12-6pm on Saturdays and Sundays throughout January! 09.01.2022 The tragic news of more drowning deaths in Victoria saddens us of WS&LSC greatly. Every drowning death is one too many, which is why we work hard to train, develop and learn to teach ourselves, each other and the community about being safe at the beach and around water. We implore all of our followers, and everyone in the broader community, please ensure your safety and the safety of those around you, including the emergency services that work so hard to keep everyone safe; use your best judgement of your skills before entering the water, swim between the red and yellow flags, and if you are unsure about something, our friendly lifesavers are here to answer yours questions, and point you in the right direction. Our condolences go out those affected by these tragic events.

04.01.2022 Dear members, In line with the State Government’s announcement today, the following will be in effect at Williamstown S&LSC from 5pm today (31/12/2020): - Masks are now mandatory to be worn when not in your private home, and required to be worn when inside any indoor WS&LSC facility until further notice.... Any further updates on effects to Club facilities and activities will be sent out as they are announced. Please ensure that you are continuing to practice good hand hygiene, getting tested if you are exhibiting any symptoms, and ensure that you and your family members are always registering via the QR code available around the Club whenever you visit WS&LSC. The WS&LSC Club Committee thanks all members for their diligence and vigilance throughout 2020, and we wish you all a very happy and prosperous 2021! We look forward to seeing your bright and happy faces down the beach throughout the New Year!

02.01.2022 Wishing Joel Farrow the very best tomorrow in the category ‘Trainer of the Year’ at the SLSA Awards of Excellence. Tune in at 5:30pm via the Surf Life Saving Australia Facebook page.
