14.01.2022 In these uncertain times, Freemasons stay connected through technology. Williamstown Lodge has roots as a returned services Lodge and holds a ceremony called The Ceremony of the Vacant Chair twice a year; ANZAC and Remembrance Days. The essence of the ceremony is to take a few moments to reflect on those that paid the ultimate sacrifice for us. With social distancing restrictions in place and the closure of lodge buildings until further notice, this year our lodge used t...echnology to ensure we continued a very important part of our lodge calendar. Because we cannot physically meet and carry out the ceremony itself, to help us commemorate, RWBro Wing Commander (Ret) John Glover RFD, PDGM gave a wonderful talk on What does ANZAC Mean 100 years later, as part of the ceremony. John combined his civilian radiology career with service to our great nation as a radiologist in the RAAF reserves including a deployment to Bougainville where he led the radiology unit as part of a peace keeping mission. We had over 50 participants from all over Australia join us on Zoom to help commemorate. We hope we can be with each other in our Lodge rooms soon.

07.01.2022 The Board of General Purposes Selection Panel will be electing up to four new Directors who will commence on March 21, 2021. An election to the BGP is for a four-year term and bears expectations of monthly Board meetings, active involvement in a Volunteer Action Team and/or aBGP sub-committee and representing the membership with regular visits to Lodges. If elected, you will be a leader within the Craft, driving decisions that support our organisation into the future. BGP ...positions hold great responsibility and influence and you will gain a new insight into the impact our organisation has within our communities. The BGP is looking for qualified Brethren to be actively involved in the strategic decision making of our Craft. We are seeking Brethren with experience in one or more areas of governance, finance, marketing, legal services, information technology and/or membership organisations. If you would like to have a voice in how our organisation is run, it is important to have your nomination endorsed by your Lodge and submitted to the Grand Secretary before the fall of the gavel at the next Quarterly Communication or Business Meeting in December 2020. Terms of eligibility: Be a subscribing member of a warranted Lodge under the United Grand Lodge of Victoria. Have held the rank of at least Master Mason within such a Lodge for a minimum period of five consecutive years immediately prior to nominating. Be able to demonstrate active involvement in Freemasonry. Have that nomination endorsed by a resolution of a Lodge of which he is a subscribing member passed in Virtual Lodge by the majority of members present. https://freemasonsvic.org.au//2/10/Nominations-for-BGP.pdf
06.01.2022 I was privileged to attend Williamstown Lodge Zoom Meeting last night and to say a few words to celebrate the 50th year as a Freemason of MWBro Bob Jones PGM. S...ome 76 on line at one stage and a thoroughly enjoyable night at a formal meeting and an absolutely fun night of reminiscing and a few toasts at the very informal south at the conclusion of formalities. Almost everyone had a story to share and it was great to have members of the 1983, 1986, 1989,1990, 2003 and of course 2013-2014 Grand Lodge Teams in attendance to honour Bob, in addition to a large number of his own brethren from Williamstown. The visitors included our GM, PGM Hillel Benedykt, PDGMs, Mark GM Peter Julier, PGDCs and many who had shared Bobs masonic Journey. The highlight for me was the fact that Robert Junior and Cam Jones, Bobs sons joined us in the South and said a few words about their father. A wonderful tribute to a highly respected and regarded Freemason and citizen. Congratulations again Sir, from your brethren throughout Victoria and indeed Australasia. See more
05.01.2022 Well done Williamstown #16. $2000.00 to the fire relief, One very proud WM.
05.01.2022 Another great night at Williamstown last night with 40+ brethren in attendance and the initiation of now Brother Paul Paciocco. Ceremony went well considering the first real working night in 12 months due to Covid. In the South Emmanuel Marabeliotakis received two ( Graeme & Adam) of three bottles of scotch as his winning from last year’s AFL games specifically Blues versus Swans and Bulldogs. Very uncommon night for Emmanuel as he is usually the presenter of the bottles an...d not the receiver of such prizes. Now we may hear a claim from Emmanuel for an additional Penalty bottle of Scotch as someone without naming them directly (BJ) forgot to bring the third bottle to this meeting night. I therefore must draw to Emmanuel attention that Williamstown Lodge has conducted a Call Off and will be Calling back on this Saturday therefore Saturday is technically the same meeting to conduct another two Initiations. So as along as someone without naming them directly (BJ) deliver the third bottle this Saturday the penalty cannot apply! See more
