25.01.2022 New coffee day! This is one we're really excited about. For those who remember the Himalaya (beautiful stone fruit profile) we have something a little extra, the same thing...naturally processed. That's when the coffee is dried in the sun with the skin on. When roasted right this results in big, bold juicy flavors. Our subscription customers will be getting some in their next order, but if youd like some, head on over to our website - link in the usual spot, Available now
24.01.2022 Another one bites the dust. This safety switch was the last piece of original roaster from the factory. Everything else has met an end. Turns out, you can't really store electronics directly underneath a hot oven (who knew!?). It'll be a good opportunity to rebuild correctly with correctly sized cabling. Also a good opportunity to mount the sensitive bits far away from the scalding hot oven.
24.01.2022 Back down the factory filling orders. We're back from leave and it feels good to have a reset. Some things coming up 1) new recyclable packaging 2) 3D printed earsavers for charity 3) delter press give away. Be sure to like the page to see the announcements
21.01.2022 Hi Everyone! Few new things to announce in case you haven't added us on Instagram yet. We have some exciting news 1) Ear Savers are now available in store. We printed them ourselves and all of the proceeds (and I really do mean ALL) are going to the Murdoch Children's Research Institute. Consider picking up a couple next time you get some coffee from us.... 2) Our packaging is now 100% recyclable. It's made of plastic type 4, so for you Hobsons Bay residents, that means it goes in with your soft plastics, which can be recycled at Coles or Woolies. We'll even print your name on the bag, so this coffee quite literally has your name on it 3) Fellow canisters are back in the shop for anyone wanting to store their coffee that way. 4) We're still here and operating with click and collect. We've had lots of support from the locals and we thank you all for it. We've got some new coffees coming in, in the near future so if your not subscribed or you know someone who ought to be, consider sharing our page with them Thanks again to everyone for your support in this time. It really does mean a lot and it keeps us going. Now that, that's all said, I'm about to go roast some beans. Till next time...
19.01.2022 In case you were wondering how we make the ear savers...now available in racey red. Get em' while they're hot!
16.01.2022 The printer has been running all weekend and we have new colors in the store. All revenue from the ear savers gets donated to help sick kids.
16.01.2022 Today is the 50th anniversary of the West Gate bridge collapse. In engineering school we're taught about many disasters, including this one so that we will never again make the same mistakes. This disaster always stuck out because of the deeply personal stories you hear told when you live in Melbournes West. Many people had family involved, or workmates, friends alor people they went to school with. There is an immense human cost associated with getting things wrong. It's alm...ost easy to forget too, as you hear the trucks rumble past over head the price paid for this piece of infrastructure. As an engineer, your calcs matter, your checking matters and most importantly it matters that you speak up when you see something that's not right. You owe it not just to yourself, but to your community. As the inscription reads, In memory of workers of all lands who are killed in industrial accidents. See more
16.01.2022 Hi Everybody. This isn't coffee related but it is Williamstown related. My very talented fiance, Ellie, helped make this video for Parks Victoria about the Jawbone reserve. The marine reserve is very close to where our roastery is and provides a habitat/nursery for many kinds of native fish we have in the bay. It's an excellent spot to snorkel and dive. If you'd like to learn more, I think Ellie explains it all best. I'm just happy to support :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5tdNddr3Oc
12.01.2022 Could have said it better myself, New coffee in stock, so they'll be online shortly and we're stocked up ready to go so be on the lookout for those order notifications.
11.01.2022 Happy "00" day to everyone! I'm sure everyone is excited for the easing of restrictions, I know I am. Together, by selling earsavers, we've raised $250, which we've matched and donated to the Murdoch Children's Research Institute. Big thanks to everyone who donated and got involved. Also big thanks to everyone who pitched in to support our community. It's not over yet and I'm more than happy to keep printing and donating in the hope that one day, we'll have little use for them.
07.01.2022 Hey everyone, how are things? I thought some of you might appreciate this video from our friends at minas hill. They've managed to raise money to address something I at first didn't even think about. If classes are necessarily online, then how are kids without access to technology going to attend? We've been going alright as a business to the wonderful efforts of our community who are supporting us in these times. Therefore some of that financial support must find it's way to... our suppliers. This program has the added benefit of connecting remote kids to educational opportunities post pandemic too. We all be from different countries, backgrounds and beliefs but we're all the same as people. When we work together, fantastic things can happen. We're very lucky to be part of a community of people who think that too.
07.01.2022 New coffees in the store! The guatemalan El Vegral and the Rwandan Ruli. Both absolute bangers, with heaps of fruit. We also have recently stocked up on our excellent Brazlian coffee too, so plenty to go around. Link in the bio
05.01.2022 Its Monday, so that means its roast day! I don't think its even possible to get tired of the smell of freshly roasted coffee.
05.01.2022 Got some new aeropress filters in stock after a bit of a wait. I also picked up some V60 filters and some of the stainless filters for those keen on those too. In the online store now, link in the bio
04.01.2022 That kinda day, time to break out the cold brew. Dont have a cold brew system? That's no worries, make a V60 or chemex and serve over ice.
