06.01.2022 Wildlife@Willinga - Australian Water Dragon coming out of its hiding spot. Australian water dragons are extremely shy and have adapted to continual human presence in suburban parks and gardens. They are fast runners and strong climbers and when faced with a potential predator, they seek cover in thick vegetation or drop from an overhanging branch into water. To avoid detection they are able to swim totally submerged and rest on the bottom of shallow creeks or lakes for up to 90 minutes.
