24.01.2022 England (not all UK) to open again soon, all based on state/regional guidelines. Keep getting out if you can, our turn will come. Are you walking/running our course, nearer home, randomly, or not at all at the moment? Who's doing what in Willo?

24.01.2022 Finally, some good news! Today's re-start under new COVID rules went very smoothly with 60 finishers supported by 19 vollies. The lower numbers (3rd lowest turnout) gave us a good chance to keep our distance, get used to the new app and distanced scanning process. Great to be back on the original course too. Results are already up. As part of the new process we have hand sanitizer for the vollie team, more scanners with buckets to drop your position token in, and an almost ro...lling start to reduce bunch up at the start line. Will post a few photos from today shortly. As always if you're not feeling well best stay home and rest up, maybe even get tested. When time's right for you to come back, barring the occasional lockdown, we aim to be here ready for you. *** Need 4-5 vollies for the Friday 1/Jan New Years Day and Saturday 2/Jan events. Please message here or email [email protected] if you can help.

23.01.2022 A hint of things to come ...

21.01.2022 Not quite the same but if we can't do it, might as well read about it ;-)

19.01.2022 Latest from update HQ, Tasmania and NT back in business with WA soon. Been out and around the course again this week for the first time in ages and great to see a few familiar faces each time. We'll have forgotten all the names by the time we get up and running again so please bear with us. No hint on when Willo and the rest of NSW might re-open but at least there's dialogue with the relevant authorities. Re-opening NT, Taz and WA are easier given there are fewer events and e...vent teams to bring out of mothballs. Standing up all the NSW events in one hit will take a bit more notice and effort to get event teams back together and familiar with the new and still evolving COVID protocols. Good news is our team are still together and raring to go when we can, and you might spot a few of us getting some (non) parkruns in. Does anyone still remember the original course, starting on the grass? It was wonderful to see parkrun events take place in Australia, New Zealand, and the Falkland Islands last Saturday, as nearly 3,000 people walked, jogged, ran or volunteered across 29 locations. And in further positive news, this coming weekend, we will be delighted to welcome back all five events in Auckland, as restrictions are lifted. We’re also looking forward to parkrun reopening in another 93 locations across the Australian state of Tasmania, and Poland, on 17 October, at which point there will be well over 100 live parkrun events around the world. Before the month is out we’re also expecting to reopen all our Japanese events on 24 October, followed by Western Australia, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man, on 31 October. Importantly, whilst national and local restrictions permit us to return in both Guernsey and the Isle of Man, given both locations are easily accessible from the rest of the UK, we are mindful of the possible negative impact of significant parkrun tourism at this time. For this reason, the return in Guernsey and the Isle of Man will begin as a four-week pilot, where we will monitor the situation and respond accordingly if required. Finally, whilst it continues to be a turbulent time in so many places, we are seeing encouraging signs. As we open up in more locations it’s wonderful to see the parkrun family getting back on its feet, as people come together once more to be active and social, in the great outdoors. Thanks for your continued support Tom Williams Chief Operating Officer parkrun Global

18.01.2022 Rumours of sightings of green shoots of a return ....

18.01.2022 *** Christmas Day event Cancelled - Thu 24/12 We've very reluctantly decided to cancel the Christmas Day event for this Friday 25th. With Curl Curl confirmed closed and few other Sydney events showing as running there's a good chance of a huge crowd at Willoughby and that's not a risk we're prepared to take. As well as the safety of the volunteers and the parkrunners, having 3-500 people on our first event back with the new COVID rules would be asking too much of the team.... *** Saturday 26th is ON!, with a full crew confirmed. Please stay home if you feel unwell, there's always next week. *** New Years Day - At this stage NYD's special event is still on, if we can get a full crew. *** Before making Christmas or NYD plans check the Special Events list below, and each event's FB and parkrun pages to confirm they're on and any changes to local conditions, start times etc. It's been a mad scramble to get events re-started and some are only this week confirming they can and will run special events, and others like us have bowed out. https://www.parkrun.com.au/special-events/ Please read through parkrun's COVID framework so everyone becomes familiar with the new operating guidelines. https://volunteer.parkrun.com//open-with-covid-19-manageme

17.01.2022 As an abundance of caution we have decided to cancel our New Year's Day and January 2nd events given the growing COVID numbers and affected venues. We'll decide on or before Jan 6th whether to go ahead on the 9th.

16.01.2022 SA events open again ... our turn is coming!

15.01.2022 We'll make a call on the Christmas Day and Saturday 26th events after the next update from the NSW Government on Wednesday 23rd. Not looking great with cases continuing to rise, but if we can do it safely, rest assured we will. Fingers crossed, faces masked, and stay safe. https://www.nsw.gov.au//new-covid-19-restrictions-for-grea

12.01.2022 Happy Birthday to us! Tomorrow, November 5th is the fourth anniversary of the inaugural Willoughby event. No cakes, cafe, or dress up theme this year, just fingers crossed for continued progress towards NSW allowing parkrun to re-open.

04.01.2022 Still no timeframe for re-starting but no harm being ready for it!
