23.01.2022 I never tire of watching this.
20.01.2022 Sharing this again as it is the Greatest example of... "building a foundation" "Trust your training" "Follow the process" "Stay calm"... "Believe in yourself" When things go wrong sometimes, all of the above are what let you succeed. As proven in this clip.. And as our beautiful daughter would say.." hold my drink, watch this Mum" #willoughbywayhorsemanship See more
20.01.2022 During a lesson, my student and I were encouraging her reluctant horse to swing freely forward. The mare said she could not, would not preferring to hold back ...from going forward into the bridle, despite being urged on by my voice and the rider’s leg. Lethargic and unenthusiastic, she chugged around in the dust and heat. Rather than pressure this sweet but sucked-back horse, I instructed the rider to slip the reins all the way to the buckle. With the reins swinging in a long arc, I then asked the rider to resume the trot. When this was established and the horse seemed quiet, I ask her to stop posting or sitting. Instead, she was to take up the two-point position as they circled the arena on very loose reins. With her back freed from the weight of the rider and her mouth freed from the weight of the hand this reluctant horse began to stretch downward at the trot. Her back began to oscillate. Her hocks began to smoothly piston. Her shoulders started swinging forward in extravagant arcs. Her neck reached forward and downward and suddenly, this very ordinary horse grew so beautiful that I gasped. She was, as all horses are, poetry in motion. What we did was simply get out of her way so that she could remember her own God-given movement. When this horse’s mind, muscles and joyfulness had returned to their free state, it was nothing to ask the rider to quietly, slowly, inch her way back up the reins. She concentrated on staying off her horse's back and riding with liquid elbows, thinking about a ‘round and soft’ feeling, rather than the word ‘collection’. The results were magical and lasting. Collection, to me, is so often misunderstood that it has become a dirty word. To the human mind, to collect is to gather together, to hold onto, to keep or hoard and so, we fiddle around, nag and pull and take. We end up concerning ourselves with the wrong end of the horse! If your horse is carrying you in a lacklustre fashion, if he or she is needing too much leg or too much hand, try getting out of the way for a while. By getting off her back and off her mouth, with encouragement, she will remember her own natural beauty. The horse you are on may well astound you. I genuinely hope so, for both your sakes. Shown here is Henry with myself on board. He is, indeed, beautiful. I think we sometimes forget that for wellness, even our western horses need to get out and fully use themselves, too! Cattle Cait.

06.01.2022 Sharing these words as Bill and Barb could not express any better. Ron Wall you were the heart and soul of horseman in Australia. Friend to many, mentor, teacher, and true inspiration to all. You leave a legacy that will never be lost in the horsemen and woman who were privileged to share time in the saddle beside you. May you never have to sit astride a tough one again, and may every horse in heaven acknowledge a truly great horseman is amongst them.... RIP now dear friend. See more
