25.01.2022 7th September, 2020 Dear Parents/carers, Re: Return to School, Monday 12th October With the announcement yesterday from the Premier, Daniel Andrews, regarding school return, I just wanted to confirm that all students and staff with return to school for on-site learning on Monday, 12th October. As a school, we have made the decision that ALL students will return on this day rather than the option of staggering the return of students over the course of this week. What this mean...Continue reading
23.01.2022 Good morning families, I just wanted to say thanks for the overwhelming support shown to your child/ren and the school as we have entered into remote learning 2.0 for the next 6 weeks. I just wanted to let you know some points around care and supervision that will continue to support the school and families who qualify for care and supervision/After School Care: Each Wednesday for the period of remote learning, we will be surveying families around the need for care and supe...rvision/After School Care. This survey will be open until 3pm on a Thursday to allow planning time to ensure staff supervision the following week. If you DO NOT say you need care and supervision, your child cannot be sent to school; If you are not working and home on a particular day, your child cannot be booked in for care and supervision for that day; If you cannot work from home AND cannot arrange for alternate supervision of your child/ren, then your child can be booked in for care and supervision; If your child is attending care and supervision and needs to be dropped off at school, a staff member will be waiting at the gate to greet your child and take them inside from 08:45am. Please be mindful that this is about minimising movement in and around the school at these times and we appreciate your continued support with this. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me for clarification and, once again, thanks for the support. Kind regards, Anthony Wilson
23.01.2022 02/08/2020 Dear Parents/guardian, Re: Return to Remote Learning I am writing to inform you of the announcement from the Premier this afternoon that ALL schools in Victoria will be returning to remote learning from Wednesday 5th August. ... Over the next two (2) days the following will be taking place: Monday 3rd August is a normal school day. We would ask that parents send an extra bag with their child in order to take home all their supplies in preparation for remote learning; Staff are already preparing, and will continue to prepare, remote learning packs from Wednesday to Friday of this week that students will be able to take home with them on Monday 3rd August at the end of the day; Tuesday 4th August is a pupil-free. Staff will be preparing remote learning packs of work for students for the week commencing Monday 10th August. Students are not expected to do any school on this day. More information will be provided tomorrow to students and families Wednesday 5th August will see the commencement of remote learning; If your child is absent from school on Monday 3rd August, please notify the office of their absence and arrange with the office to pick up their equipment and remote learning work pack after 3:15pm tomorrow. Teachers will be making contact with parents of students in their class over the next 2 days, either via a phone call or an email. If you work in essential services and need to send you child to school this week (Wednesday, Thursday or Friday) a survey will be going out to confirm this so that appropriate supervision arrangements can be made. The Premier has indicated that more details will be given to schools regarding whole such workers are and we will let you know once we have more information; Given our John works part-time at an aged-care facility, he is unavailable to work at the school for the foreseeable future. We are grateful for how John has become an important part of our school and the way in which he has modified his support mechanism. Challenging times require creative thinking and this is another way we are able to provide support to our whole school community at this time We understand that this time is one of uncertainty and can provide extra challenges for all members of a family, both young and old. Please remember, that we are here to support you and your child/ren and will always encourage you to do the best you can given the unique circumstances of each family. As further information is provided to school, we will share it with our school community to ensure you are all kept up to date. If you have any questions or need clarification on anything, please do not hesitate to call or email so that we are able to support you and your family as much as possible. 20.01.2022 5th October, 2020 Dear Parents/carers, Re: Return to School It was great today to be able to welcome back all our students following 7 weeks of remote learning during term 3. There has certainly been a feeling of excitement as everyone has re-engaged with on-site learning but, most importantly, engaged with one another. As part of the return to school, each child has received a drink bottle celebrating their return today and something to keep as they look back at their time ...spent in remote learning during 2020 (students are pictured below with their new drink bottle). We would like to thank Courtney Broadbent from Made by Courtney Brooke for suppling these to the school on such a short timeframe. Once again, I would like to thank you for your support of the school and your child as we look forward to the term ahead here at school. Kind regards, Anthony Wilson Principal
19.01.2022 14th April, 2020 Dear Parents/guardian, Re: Learning during Term 2 Welcome to the start of what will be a very different Term 2. We acknowledge the support the community has shown to the school around the way remote learning will look like as we begin this journey of new learning together. ... At this time, it is important that we continue to clearly communicate with families the Department of Educations expectations around who is able to attend school and learning support the school can provide; All students who can stay at home, MUST stay at home; In line with this and state requirements, the majority of staff will work from home; The only students who are able to attend on site are children of workers who cannot work from home and are unable to get someone else to supervise their children; If you require assistance around devices for student learning at home during Term 2, please contact the school who will be happy to assist; The Principal and a small number of school leaders and operational staff will remain at school for the purpose of ongoing leadership, coordination and quality assurance of our teaching and learning online programs. The school will provide a place of care, support and learning for children of essential service workers who have no option than to send their children to school. Please understand there is no additional learning advantage to this model learning content and materials will be the same for students learning online at home. Due to the limited number of staff physically at school, those who have no option but to attend will be cared for and supported by different staff, not necessarily their current classroom teacher or teachers. As already mentioned in previous correspondence, regardless of the circumstance, the same teaching and learning content and materials will be provided through daily emails or hard copy for those students who require it. Please remember, you will also receive a weekly email with an overview of the following weeks work that your child will be completing. If you have any questions or need clarification on anything, please do not hesitate to call or email so that we are able to support you and your family as much as possible. Email [email protected] School 03 5635 2271 Mobile 0427 700 807 Kind regards, Anthony Wilson Principal

16.01.2022 16th September, 2020 Dear Parents/carers, Re: Return to School and Camps Return to School Late last night, we received news that all students and staff will now return to school for on-site learning on Monday, 5th October. As a school, we have made the decision that ALL students will return on this day rather than the option of staggering the return of students over the course of this week.... This means that the following will take place on students return to school: All staff and students return for on-site learning on Monday 5th October; Learning packs will still be sent home this week but are NOT to be completed over the school holiday period. As circumstances are changing daily, we ask that families keep these at home unless otherwise instructed by their childs classroom teacher. Learning packs will be delivered as usual on Thursday or Friday this week; Due to MARC Van sessions not operating within the school for at least the first 3 weeks (Department guidelines), these sessions will be moved to a Thursday so that students are able to settle in with their classroom teacher and specialist teacher on Monday 5th October. During Week 1, these sessions will be taken by myself rather than a CRT. Once MARC Van returns to the school we will let our students know and the time will return to Monday as usual. Camps Following advice from the Department of Education and Training, both our Grade 5/6 and Grade 6 Graduations camps have been cancelled. This was a decision we have left as late as possible but, unfortunately, we have had to take this action. We understand that circumstances may change around camps in Term 4 but, based on current advice, we have no alternative. Discussions are already taking place on what we are able to do in an attempt to make up for these missed events in line with restrictions that will still exist during Term 4. Please be mindful, that these are the arrangements for return to school as they currently stand there and may be a need for the Department of Education and Training to change these. If this is the case, we will notify families at the earliest possible time. If you have any questions or need clarification on anything, please do not hesitate to call or email so that we are able to ensure clear and accurate communication is maintained. Once again, I would like to thank you for your support of the school and your child. Kind regards, Anthony Wilson Principal
16.01.2022 Good morning families, Yesterday afternoon we received an email from the Regional Director explaining that ALL regional schools could take today (5th August) as a pupil-free day, rather than commence remote learning. Given the amount of work that staff had already done in preparation and communication families had received, we decided that it was too late to change with such short notice and so commenced remote learning today. However, I have just received notification that r...egional schools can now use any day THIS WEEK as a pupil-free day to continue in preparation for remote learning for the coming 6 weeks. We have decided that in order to support our students, families and staff for the long term in remote learning, we will use Friday 7th August as a pupil-free day. Therefore, students will not be required to complete any school work on Friday this week as it will be a pupil-free day. Mark Wilms, School Council President, has been consulted and has approved Friday 7th August being a pupil-free day. As such, there will be NO Care and Supervision and After-School Care operating on Friday 7th August. We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused but appreciate your understanding given the short notice we have received around this. All staff will be working remotely on Friday, 7th August, and will not be at school. This decision has not be made lightly but is in the long-term remote learning and wellbeing interest of students, staff and families as we continue to plan and prepare for the coming 6 weeks and navigate our way through these difficult and challenging times. Thursday 6th August will be a remote learning day. We appreciate your understanding and support of the school. Kind Regards, Anthony Wilson Principal Willow Grove Primary School Ph. 03 5635 2271

Hope that you have had a good week and we appreciate the continued support that has been shown over this term in particular with remote learning. 15.01.2022 We are a school of high expectations and value all people and resources that contribute to our students and their development. Unfortunately, while undergoing some routine maintenance this week, some people managed to get into our toilets and vandalise them. We continually encourage our students to value what they have and treat it with respect and this act is incredibly disappointing and frustrating and now requires valuable resources to fix the damage. If you were involved or know who was, I would encourage you to contact the school on 0427700807

09.01.2022 18 September 2020 Dear neighbours of Willow Grove Primary School, The Victorian Government is committed to ensuring all government schools are safe environments with quality facilities for students, staff and the wider community. Asbestos removal works will occur at Willow Grove Primary School on Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th of September. The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) has engaged Savills Project Management to project manage the works, and they will lead a... team of experts comprising of Licenced Asbestos Removal companies and Occupational Hygienists to safely remove the asbestos. During this time, you may see qualified contractors come in and out of the school grounds. We would like to ensure you that all necessary controls and compliance measures are being implemented. The asbestos remediation works will be undertaken in strict accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2017. Identifibre is an independent environmental company supervising and providing health and safety services to PROAS to ensure compliance with the regulations. Air-quality monitoring will be operating during all asbestos removal operations, and a clearance certificate will be issued by the occupational hygienist before the area can be occupied again. 09.01.2022 03/08/2020 Dear Parents/guardian, Re: Remote Learning Update I am writing today in order to keep you up to date with information, as it becomes available, and Willow Grove Primary School planning so that parents remain informed. 06.01.2022 7th October, 2020 Dear Parents/carers, Re: School Photos and Camps School Photos Unfortunately, we have just been told by the Department of Education that school photos will not be taking place in regional Victorian schools during term 4. This means that our scheduled booking for the professional photographer to take our school photos on Monday 12th October will not take place. However, we are looking at taking individual and class photos ourselves on this day (weather permit...ting) to ensure that there is still a photo of each child and their class from 2020. We appreciate that this is not ideal but know that our community understands this is a Department of Education decision and out of our control. Camps At the end of last term due to Department of Education advice, our Grade 5/6 and Grade 6 Graduation camp were cancelled. During the holiday break, advice was received that camps in regional Victoria could go ahead. As such, we are now working through the logistics of running our Grade 5/6 Woorabinda camp again but, hopefully, at a date later in the term to allow for planning time and give parents time to financially resource the camp. We do not know exactly what this will look like or if it will be able to go ahead at this stage, but we will notify all affected families with as much advance warning as possible. We are also exploring our options for an excursion or short camp for the Grade 3/4 class during the term given they missed their pre-booked camp during Term 3. If you have any questions or need clarification on anything, please do not hesitate to call or email so that we are able to ensure clear and accurate communication is maintained. Once again, I would like to thank you for your support of the school and your child. Kind regards, Anthony Wilson Principal
