24.01.2022 John Winterburn inducted into the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame Willowbank Raceways John Stomper Winterburn has been honoured for his lengthy and meritorious service to the sport with news that he will be inducted into the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame for 2021. Winterburn was advised of the award by Don Garlits, CEO of the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing, home of the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame.... Under the new restrictions from this mornings press release, Venue and events FOLLOWING A COVIDSafe industry plan ( This is the plan that we have been running to protect everyone since it started ) can continue operating! Please use your common sense and ensure everyone maintains the social distancing requirements at all times this will help us to keep running events, we get its a pain but its enforced and the police patrol through to check that we are abiding by the safety plan. 16.01.2022 Unfortunately, due to the current weather forecast we have made the difficult decision to postpone the All Bike Day and cancel the Test N Tune scheduled for tomorrow October 24! The All Bike Day will now be run on November 28. All entries and spectator tickets will be automatically transferred to the new date. The Test n Tune entries and spectator tickets will be automatically transferred to the Test n Tune on November 14.

15.01.2022 Willowbank Raceway is delighted to announce the appointment of our new CEO, Peter Beaumont. Peter brings a wealth of experience to Willowbank in professional and corporate sporting field while also being the longest serving General Manager at Sydney Dragway, his last appointment. As a part of Peter’s professional background, he spent over eight years working in the NRL as the General Manager (Commercial) at both The Cronulla Sharks, and The Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs. Thr...oughout this period, Peter spent quite a large portion of his time working with corporate and marketing which will benefit the sports commercialisation not only at Willowbank Raceway, but also across the sport of Drag Racing in Australia. Peter commented on his new role This opportunity is an enormous and exciting opportunity for myself. Willowbank Raceway is the true home of Drag Racing in Australia. I believe the venue has a great potential to attract new events, sponsors and alternative business opportunities. Having just experienced the running of the 53rd Winternationals, I have now witnessed the largest Drag Racing event outside the USA, and the most iconic event in the Australian Drag Racing calendar each year. The opportunity to create a plan to grow the venue, the sport and alternative business hires is exciting and is a task I look forward to develop and implement with the Board. Tony Wedlock (President, Willowbank Raceway) added, Most members of the Willowbank Raceway Board have known Peter for a long time as part of his previous role. Therefore, when he became available it was really an easy decision for us to have Peter work with us as a contractor in the lead up to the Winternational’s. During this time, Peter worked with our Staff, Volunteers and Racers as well as the Raceway Board and based on the feedback we received it became an easy decision for us that we should look to make Peter a more permanent fixture at the venue. We know Peter is bringing a wealth of all round experience to our venue and we look forward to working with Peter. 14.01.2022 We have added the QDRC and Street Series Entries to the Willowbank Raceway Website, we have had some updates on the back end of the Website to comply with COVID. Sorry about the delay we will be adding the extra events in the next few days. Please practice social distancing at all our events as we do have Qld Health and the local Police frequenting the venue, so to ensure we can have the track open please stick to the 1.5m and usual Covid Safety procedures.

Following the announcement today by the Queensland Government of a mandatory 3-day lockdown for greater Brisbane, which includes the Ipswich region, unfortunately we have no option but to immediately cancel both the Test Day scheduled for later today and the event on Saturday the 9th of January 2021 in order to keep our fans and racers safe. While we are extremely disappointed, but we have no other option but to make this decision.... Covid may have forced us to cancel our 400 Thunder Championship round in January, but the Willowbank Board and CEO wanted to bounce back with something out of the box, the Match Race from Hell we are calling the New Year Shootout. This event is to show our fans that nothing can keep us down and we will continue to push the boundaries of the sport into the future. With Top Fuel, Pro Alcohol, To...p Bike and a Pro Slammer vs Pro Mod match races all coming together from across the East Coast to put on a show at the New Year Shootout at Willowbank Raceway on the 9th of January 2021.
