19.01.2022 Last night, I lost a friend and our community lost a hero. My deepest sympathy goes to the Roles family for their loss and to those who were impacted by a great man and a good mentor. My favourite memory was standing tall on top of a mountain with you mate and so it was only fitting that I find myself back there today. A little closer to you, sharing stories with some kids of a guy I once knew. ... This one is for you Tezz I’m glad your family and the community are hurting, it means you left an impact. 12.01.2022 Two years ago, I was working full time as a police officer. Due to some life events that occurred I made the decisions to travel into an active war zone and work with the worlds most vulnerable youth. Before I left, I read a story online about a man named ‘ ’. I printed 5 t-shirts with his initials ‘JCP’ and put a small logo together which gave me purpose to start empowering youth. It was a hobby. A way to give back. ... Two years ago today I was sitting in the Middle East and made the decision to sell my house, my car and hit the road. To dedicate myself to this work. Despite the challenges faced by , I’ve built an organisation in under two years to have national impact on our young people. I employ amazing staff who assist in this role and I’m really proud of what we’ve been able to achieve. I’ve been recognised in the Australian of the Year Awards, received a Human Rights Award and other recognitions from government and non government entities. This morning has been a very reflective moment. This success hasn’t come without adversity. Two years ago on this date - was a day full of adversity. What I saw and experienced on this day still hits me like a train in the middle of the night. There’s a lot more to be done. I can’t wait to put this exact post up again in another two years. We all play a role in developing the young people around us.
11.01.2022 I’m not interested where you sit politically, because this should draw us all together. One great thing from the last few weeks is the passion Peter Gutwein has put behind a team that represents our state. His comments in particular about the failing Gold Coast Suns and their president have been a bit degrading. And I bloody love it. ... I’m passionate about this state. Whether I think an AFL team will work is now irrelevant. Anyone who takes a swipe at our beautiful state can prepare for an onslaught of success from Tasmanians to follow. So bring on an AFL team, I’m excited to show my passion for it. If you can, get to the AFL in Hobart today. I agree with the Premier, we should boo the President of Gold Coast for his unwarranted comments about our state and we shouldn’t shy away from showing some passion for living in the best place on earth Tasmania. #lovethisplace
