16.01.2022 I don't normally rant but this is too big, not too share... What kind of crazy fresh hell is this now?... Serious? These amazing men and women put their lives o...n the line for US (yes including CHILDREN) for FREE!!! If these Fireys don't comply by Jan 2020 they will not be able to fight fires????? The worst fire season to date, and now this?... These guys need to be paid, 'don't look a gift-horse in the mouth'!!! I may not be fighting fires, but this rule sadly is now also affecting me and the people I help for FREE!... I've been running a FREE fortnightly meditation class for 2 years at the Hervey Bay Library (with 25 - 35 ADULT participants) and now I'm told I need to apply for a blue-card in order for me to continue in 2020. I work in a private room with a closed door and the class is with adults! I have nothing whatsoever to do with children but I'm told it's because there are children in the library????? Does that mean all shop-keepers will need a blue-card eventually? I worked for many years with our beautiful disabled community and yes, many were children, so I accepted that came with the JOB! But at the library I offer my time for FREE! I'm sure many of these fireys are struggling with the same internal dilemma I am right now. If I choose to apply for the card then I'm buying into the rubbish dished out. If I don't, others will suffer... What to do?... I'm a mother of 2 and love my children deeply. But common sense appears to be failing in this world. Perhaps we would all benefit from turning inward more, to practice self awareness (and teach our kids this fundamental exercise for discernment and resilience).
