25.01.2022 Daphne and Harvey's chick is now entering it's second week and is doing well. The family is often feeding in the dead seaweed some distance north of the nest en...closure. Please look out for them and give them space as they may be feeding anywhere on the beach. Thank you for your continued support, Friends of the Hooded Plover Volunteers See more

15.01.2022 Santalum acuminatum. (Quandong) These shrubs or trees make a good garden plant. I have several scattered around the garden blocks. Some have been propagated fro...m seed then planted, and lots of others I have just scattered seed under some plants and let nature take over and enjoy getting some surprises when years later a young Quandong plant appears through a shrub. 14.01.2022 Congratulations to the Willunga Basin Trail who have been awarded a Grassroots Grant from the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape board! The group who have been active... for the past eight years will deliver a training and development program for team leaders. They will be provided a dedicated trailer for storing and carrying all the tools and equipment needed to undertake weed control, brushcutting and installation of new trails and signs. 07.01.2022 We are all for a "Circular Economy" but not like this . Spotted a Peats Garden Compost bag that has come full circle but not in a good way. It has arriv...ed via someone's green council bin. We love to receive all your food & garden organics (FOGO) for composting, but recyclable and plastic items are best reused, recycled or if no other options, put into the red landfill bin. Did you know? Our products can't be packed into a Certified Compostable bag (as unlikely to make it all the way to your garden!) but our bags can be rinsed, dried and taken to a https://www.redcycle.net.au drop off point for recycling. What goes into your green bin is super important (& what doesn't)! Not sure what can go into your green bin? Have a quick check at https://www.whichbin.sa.gov.au/ or via Which Bin? There is something heartening to see in this pile though. Can anyone find it? #RecycleRight #whichbin #recycle #circulareconomy #fogo #greenbin #refusereuserecycle #peatssoil #gardencompost #organiccompost #kitchencaddy #certifiedcompostable #biobag

06.01.2022 Meet Indiana Jones , he is a little joey orphaned during the recent extreme heat over the weekend. Indiana was found by the side of a country road in Ka...ngarilla, South Australia by a lovely couple on their morning walk. Weighing only 810g, he can not yet climb big trees and was at risk of being killed by a fox or would have most likely perished in the hot sun expected later that day. He is one very lucky boy!

04.01.2022 How great is this? A free downloadable booklet of Indigenous plants! Designed for community groups, schools and individuals who want to connect with native ...plants and understand the medicinal, nutritional and technological use of plants (such as traps, nets and weapons) developed over many, many millennia by Australia’s First Peoples. Also includes handy list of resource links providing detailed information on how to make garden beds, plant groupings and tips on choosing plants, where to buy them and how to keep your garden healthy.
