09.01.2022 This is a particularly well articulated short documentary on the critical role that livestock play in the restoration of the worlds Grasslands, and the huge capacity of our Grasslands to store greenhouse gases.

07.01.2022 Climate change mitigation as a co-benefit of regenerative ranching: insights from Australia and the United States Hannah Gosnell, Susan Charnley and Paige Stanley "There is a growing body of the literature on the connection between rangeland management practices and climate change mitigation through GHG emission reductions and enhancement of natural carbon sinks, and on regenerative ranching in particular. Regenerative ranching aims to enhance soil health and agricultural pro...ductivity while meeting each pillar in the ‘triple bottom line’ of sustainability: economic, environmental and social." This is a paper well worth you while reading...I'd be interested in your thoughts and comments. https://royalsocietypublishing.org/d/10.1098/rsfs.2020.0027

05.01.2022 Soil Test Results 2020 Quite remarkably, after coming through one of the driest years on record, and after half of Wilmot was burnt, we’ve held or improved our Soil Organic Carbon levels across all three farms. These results are across the same multiple transect sites from 0-15cm. We have been sampling at these sites since 2012 at Wilmot and Woodburn, and the same sites this year and last at Morocco.... We analyse all aspects of our soil through a standard soil test at EAL Laboratory in Lismore. I won’t delve into every aspect, only to say that there are very few deficiencies that we are concerned about. We use Soil Organic Carbon as an indicator of overall soil health. The carbon measurement is a Leco Carbon test and uses a methodology approved by the Regulator. These numbers are what is giving us the confidence to participate in a soil carbon project. Tune in Wednesday night to hear more about how we achieved this and what we think the benefits are to be gained from a Soil Carbon Project.

04.01.2022 If you missed this webinar earlier in the week from the crew at MaiaGrazing, then be sure to check it out here. There is some brilliant messaging in here about critical decision making from Bart Davidson, David McLean and the powerhouse Ainsley Mcarthur. Would you believe no one ever makes a bad decision? We just act on the information we have at the time to make the best decisions we can. It’s only w the benefit of hindsight that we realise we could have made a better one. ... And planning, planning is critical for critical decision making! https://www.maiagrazing.com/therightcall/

These Memories will stir up all kinds of emotions. As always, please keep an eye out for your mates, have a yarn about all this, and if you’re still personally being affected by the trauma, reach out for help. 01.01.2022 Big shoutout to MaiaGrazing who continue to showcase the Champions of Grazing Innovation w the stars of the Wilmot Field Day 2020, Nick and Alex Anderson the next to be featured. MaiaGrazing have been standout leaders in the promotion and encouragement of a shift towards more regenerative and holistic grazing practices from the outset and we’ve been proud to be able to share in this journey w them. They are far more than just a grazing software company and through this webi...nar, and many of their others, they are sharing a great deal of knowledge amongst the global grazing community, and are to be commended for doing so. Don’t miss this one! https://www.maiagrazing.com/joinandersons/

01.01.2022 Professional Development - the single greatest investment we make. We’ve just wrapped up a four day Tarwyn Park Training school w the formidable Peter, Stuart, and Megan Andrews, and John Fry. There is no end to the work we can do in the landscape to help rehydrate it, store more water, and rebuild fertility. ... It’s been an absolute privilege to spend four days w a man of Peter’s caliber. Slow the flow. Let all plants grow. Be careful where the animals go. The filter is a must know. Quite unfortunately, due to COVID rescheduling of events, Grant N Tanya Wickham were unable to join us as the dates clashed w the KLR Marketing school that they were attending in Orange! Very proud of the engagement by our team this week and I’m looking forward to seeing how Jimmy, Jamie, Brent, Trisha and Lisa incorporate their learnings into the business. If you have an opportunity, get along to one of these courses, worth every cent! Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime - this is our approach to investment in our staff.
