24.01.2022 We hope that all our families have enjoyed their holidays and are ready to begin Term 3. Students return to school on Tuesday 21st. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

23.01.2022 This week’s OzHarvest recipe was Tzatziki Dip with Veggie Sticks. The students are learning about healthy eating along with sustainability in regards to food waste. Adults might be interested to know that the five food groups have changed since we were at school, and now fruit and vegetables are considered as two seperate groups while fats and oils aren’t considered a group anymore. https://www.eatforhealth.gov.au//australian-guide-healthy- Ms Jordan

23.01.2022 Dojo points cashed in, and these students enjoyed delicious Tacos made especially for them by Mrs Martin...

22.01.2022 The students have seamlessly transitioned into the new multipurpose library space. Borrowing rates have continued to increase over the year and library lessons are a favourite. The new space can be easily rearranged to accommodate S.T.E.A.M lessons. If you have been following our Facebook posts, you may have noticed that the hot FEAST recipe lessons have been successfully taught here. Ms Jordan

22.01.2022 It is SASS Recognition week. Schools Administrative and Support Staff are being recognised for their support in our schools. This year theyve had to be increasingly flexible to adapt to changing scenarios and pandemic restrictions, highlighting the vital role they play in keeping schools running efficiently every day. Mrs Martin presented a delicious carrot cake for all to share. Students made lovely cards with heartfelt messages and Rose spoilt Darryl, Marg and I with beautiful native flowers from her garden. It takes a team to run a school... we have a great team at The Creek.

22.01.2022 Students recreated the Solar System today in Science in the beautiful Spring weather. Ms Jordan

19.01.2022 Term 3 is well underway and we are enjoying our Creative Being focus, Music and Dance. Due to strict Departmental directives we are unable to invite families and friends to school, so we thought that we would share a little of what we are doing at school at the moment! Credit for this video goes to our Year six student, Leo!

19.01.2022 Friday fun day continues with dance and music. Were saving the music as its almost ready to share, but heres some dance choreography in its early stages.

18.01.2022 Term 3 has started on a nice note!

18.01.2022 Playground fun...

16.01.2022 Our FEAST recipe this week was Banana Pikelets! The students did a lot of measuring, mixing and careful cooking - breaking in our new electric frypans. Ms Jordan and Mr Davis and our fabulous OzHarvest volunteer Aletha, were very busy assisting students so not so many photos to show you this week. What a delicious way to use up overripe bananas! Check out the OzHarvest website for some great ‘Wasty’ recipes to try at home. Ms Jordan.

10.01.2022 The antici....pation is over, and it is here!!! Thanks to a very generous donation from one of our families, we now have a brand new interactive smart board. Our family asked to be kept anonymous, but we would like to thank them from the bottom of our hearts!

09.01.2022 Costa is an inspiration to our young Junior Landcarers.

09.01.2022 Highlights from the P & C June meeting: Creek Café: We are on a mission to make the Creek Café a routine highlight for our kids, an opportunity for them to eat a shared meal with all the school staff, and relax a little on Friday lunchtimes on the countdown to the weekend. We want to make the Creek Café a regular fortnightly Friday feature, to help parents plan ahead Dan will be looking for parent volunteers to fill a forward roster. Please volunteer, our kids need you! ... We’d like to set up a kitty system where parents (if they wish) can deposit their contributions to the Café lunches ahead of time, and have their balance tracked, to save having to remember to bring cash every fortnight. Talk to Lynne to set this up. We’ll be asking kids to book their lunches in the days leading up to Creek Café days, making it easier for the cooking parents to cater for the right number. Garden Working Bee: Our kids love the garden, and we are making it more fun to play in, eat and learn from! On Saturday 19th June, please come along at 9 am, spend the morning in the garden getting some chores done, and we will feed you a truly sumptuous lunch to reward your efforts. Bring your energy, your kids, garden vibes, and - your gloves and any garden tools you have (spade, rake, mattock, pruning saw, and even a wheelbarrow if you’re feeling dangerous). To take part in this morning of fun, please sign up on the sheet at the school entrance, or tell Lynne you can come. Please also tell us what tools you will bring. Examples of chores are: Fertilise and mulching fruit trees and gardens Clean chookhouse and put poo on gardens Brushcutting (chook run and new garden bed areas) Weeding Fill sandpit with fresh sand Really hope to see many of you there! 09.01.2022 We are loving our music!

09.01.2022 Apologies for the late post! We had three more students cashing in their Dojo points resulting in Mrs Martin making pizza for Koffi and Loki, and Sage having a relaxing day in the comfy chair! Who will be cashing in this week? Last week of Term 2. Will the students have enough Dojo points to go ahead with let your hair down day on Thursday? Watch this space!

09.01.2022 We made the perfect cool afternoon snack in our FEAST lesson today. Bircher Muesli topped with banana and blueberries. Although any fruit that that needs using up would work perfectly! Ms Jordan

08.01.2022 This week the students cooked Honey Soy Noodle Stir Fry for our FEAST lesson. The students said it tasted delicious and are keen to cook it again for their families at home!

08.01.2022 Dojo points cashed in and lunch provided by Mrs Martin!

08.01.2022 Dojo points were tallied and there were several students that cashed them in for lunch with Mrs Martin on Monday. Just a reminder, those students will be enjoying delicious pizza so there is no need to bring lunch!

08.01.2022 International Friendship Day!

07.01.2022 We have some extra happy students this week because they decided to cash in their Dojo points to receive their chosen prize. Students are given Dojo points for following school rules both in the classroom and the playground. Students can bank their points or cash them in along the way for prizes. Zeke was very excited to spend his day at school sitting in the comfy chair after cashing in his points. Jazzy chose to cash in points to enjoy an ice block at lunchtime. Dais...y cashed in her 100 points which meant that Mrs Martin provided lunch for her. Daisy was very happy with her choice of Sushi made by Mrs Martin. Stay tuned as more Dojo points get cashed in! 07.01.2022 Ms Jordan sent through a message this morning to say that the company that produce Dirt Girl World are casting for the show and looking for new kids to be involved. If you are interested check out the link. https://www.dirtgirlworld.com/castmedirtgirl

06.01.2022 So much happening this week at school. The tradies have been here all week preparing the demountables for removal. The Department deemed that due to numbers our two demountables had to be removed. It all happened this morning with one removed before school and we were all enthralled watching the second being lifted and placed on the trucks. We are all very positive about their removal as they are so old and very much in need of lots of maintenance. We have great spaces for teaching and learning and have plans for an outdoor learning area. We know that we will continue to grow and it won’t be too long before we are asking the Department for a (new)demountable back.

05.01.2022 Primary Schools from all the 54 countries which belong to the Antarctic Treaty, of which Australia is a leading member, have been invited to take part in an international event to encourage interest in the Antarctic. Schools from other Antarctic Treaty nations include Portugal, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina, to name a few! Each participating school is given 50 penguin cut-outs from MDF. The students are asked to paint them in any way they wish. There is to be a biennial Australian Antarctic Festival held in Hobart where all schools taking part will have their colony on display under the name of their school and country! Our students have been busy being very creative!

05.01.2022 The students had lots of fun making Rainbow Rolls for their FEAST lesson today. There are so many ways to customise this healthy recipe to suit personal tastes and to use up any vegetables in the fridge before being wasted. Ms Jordan

05.01.2022 From the garden to the plate! Ms Jordan kindly volunteered her time today, and with the help of Leo, Ruby and Munay made delicious spinach and feta parcels, a green salad (with eggs from our chooks), a Tabouli salad and a freshly squeezed orange juice. Everyone was involved with the harvesting of the fruit and veggies ... and all students (and staff) were involved in consuming the end result, which was very delicious! Ice cream with sprinkles ended our feast on a sweet note! We have missed the Creek Cafe. Thanks Ms Jordan.

05.01.2022 End of Term shenanigans!! We said farewell to Soren and Loki as they will be attending a new school much closer to home in Murwillumbah next Term. Luckily for Soren he accumulated enough Dojo points to have Mrs Martin make him sushi on his last day! Koffi celebrated a birthday and we enjoyed the delicious cake that Dan made! Enjoy your holidays. Fingers crossed this amazing weather will last!

05.01.2022 We had an eggcellent day at school today! Hard boiled eggs for everyone.

05.01.2022 Today the students made fritters in our FEAST lesson. Fritters are a great, healthy way to cook up those veggies in the fridge (or freezer) that need using up. We had corn and peas in ours today - but grated zucchini and sweet potato would be delicious, too. Ms Jordan

04.01.2022 The heavens are lining up in the first total lunar eclipse to be seen across Australia since July 2018. I am sharing this article, kindly sent by Margie Hall. If you are interested, the article is very informative explaining the Lunar Eclipse that will take place tonight.

04.01.2022 Staff are very much looking forward to students returning to school next week. It will be a slow start, but a welcome one. Class 1 (kindy, Years 1 & 2) will return on Monday and Wednesday. Class 2 (Years 3,4,5 & 6) on Tuesday and Thursday. Students will need to bring refillable water drink bottles as the bubblers will be not be available to use. Please be mindful of social distancing if you are dropping your children at school. ... It is very important that we have a contact phone number for ALL students in case of an emergency, or if your child becomes unwell during the day. Please contact the school if your contact details have changed. If your child shows any signs of being unwell, please do not send them to school. This is also advised for staff, and we will be very vigilant that anyone not well will be sent home. We will very much look forward to welcoming our students back to school, we have missed them. Whilst everyone has been in lockdown our school has been getting a bit of a makeover! We still have a lot to be done but we are very happy with our new look! Have a great weekend. Happy Mothers Day to all of our wonderful Mums. We hope to see you all next week! See more

04.01.2022 I looked around this morning and took notice of all the amazing artwork that has been created this term. Mr Russell continues to inspire, motivate and bring out the artist in every one of our students.

04.01.2022 Let your hair down day! We all went a little crazy! Happy holidays everyone! Have a safe and enjoyable break. Stay well and happy.

03.01.2022 The comfy chair is popular with the Kindy boys! Here is Eddie enjoying his day in comfort after cashing in his Dojo points.

02.01.2022 Friday Stem challenge.. Mr Russell had the students using their imagination and problem solving skills.. take a look!

02.01.2022 Sadly, tomorrow is our Pre-Service teachers last day. We have thoroughly enjoyed having Andy/Mr Davis at our school and we wish him every success for the remainder of his degree. We hope to see Mr Davis back at our school in the future.

01.01.2022 This week for Science Week for our topic How can we prove the Suns power changes things?, the students enjoyed conducting two experiments. In experiment 1, students used sun sensitive dark paper and opaque objects to compare the change in the paper that was placed in sunlight to the paper that was not. In experiment 2, students observed invisible sunlight in tonic water after leaving it in sunlight for two minutes. They found that because tonic water contains quinine, a substance that absorbs ultraviolet light, a blue visible light appeared on the surface of the water. Ms Jordan.
