24.01.2022 Think that a job is too lowly for you? This man worked as a barefoot grape-stomper and mud-digger before founding and leading the most successful nation that ev...er existed, relative to its size. Think you are too short or don't look good enough? He was also 5' (1.52m) tall and looked like a dwarf from Lord of the Rings. Think your house doesn't fit your big personality? He spent his last decades living in a modest shack in the desert. He was David Ben-Gurion, and history remembers him as one of its greatest leaders, because focused on action, rather than excuses. 21.01.2022 The Andrews Labor Government is planning a mass slaughter of brumbies. These animals are an iconic part of Victoria’s heritage and cultural identity but Labor w...ill soon be undertaking a mass ground and aerial shooting. The 2018 Feral Horse Strategic Action Plan recognised that shooting Brumbies had limited public support. The Liberal Nationals are calling on the Andrews Labor Government to genuinely consult with regional communities and prioritise rehoming Brumbies as a means of controlling numbers to maintain sustainable populations. I'd like to know your thoughts, should the Andrews Labor Government go ahead with shooting brumbies?
20.01.2022 Hi everyone, just an update. We as a Committee have been working very hard behind the scenes. The current state of play after speaking to a regional manage...r of Parks Victoria is that they were ready to start trapping/shooting horses now, However the Covid virus has meant that has been pushed back to October/November. Applications for rehoming brumbies in Victoria x 3 herds total a very small 50 people willing to take a Brumby. So there is not a lot of time left for these Barmah brumbies. We have fought for 7 years to keep the Barmah Brumbies in the Barmah Forest. We have tried many things including, petitions, protests, PZP fertility Control studies, Consultation, Lectures, School tours, Media, Videos, providing management plans, Having the real traditional owners the Bangerang on board, Etc, etc, etc and it has all been ignored by the Labour Government and Parks Victoria. The Barmah Brumbies are currently in deep trouble. So we have changed direction. HOWEVER now the good news! The Barmah Brumby Preservation Group has secured 1000 acres of land bordering the Barmah Forest And with the wonderful property owner has applied to rehome all of the Barmah Brumbies. This was done just before applications closed. This will depend on the Government accepting our detailed proposal, And providing assistance. The 1000 acres will be used specifically as a home for the Barmah Brumbies in a as natural setting as possible. If the Government agrees to back this proposal there will be no need for a cull. There will be no need for another 7 or 8 years of battles and protests. There will be no need for any shooting. If backed by the Government we plan to rehome to the public some of the suitable, handled brumbies, We also plan on running clinics and tourism. Rehoming wild unhandled Brumbies hasn't really worked so hopefully people will be more interested in horses that have the basic education. Let's hope that the Government can get on board with this solution where no Brumby has to die. We are being assisted by Wendy Lovell and Bill Tilley MP in our negotiations with the Government. This is not a done deal, So don't get your hopes up too much. But I will be very surprised if the Government does not seriously consider this offer, Where it is a win/win for everybody, Especially the Barmah Brumbies. A Board of Management which includes the property owner will be set up to oversee the day to day business, Get your horses into work, We may need hundreds of you very capable horse riders to push the brumbies into the property.

16.01.2022 So the government are advising you to report on your neighbours if they don’t follow the new rules. Before following this advice you should really consider the ...fact that the government won’t be there to help you jump start your car if your battery goes flat or lend you the tools you may need to fix something in your home. They won’t be an extra set of eyes to watch your property when you’re away from it. They won’t keep an eye on your kids if they are playing in the street and someone strange is hanging around! We need each other more than ever right now because at the end of the day they won’t be standing on your door step to help you out when the going gets tough. Asking you to report people in your neighbourhood is a shit act only devised to create hatred in your community. We should be here to support each other not to police each other. We all need to have each other’s backs especially now and be there willing to have a chinwag or offer support in any way we can to help each other get through this. No government will stop me saying G’day to anyone in my community and I definitely won’t be ratting on any of them. Just remember to be careful for your own health and safety. Copy, paste and share! 07.01.2022 BARMAH WAITING Spring is here, soft warm balmy days full of sunshine and barely a breeze to spoil the day. But for me, it just doesn’t sit right, it’s as if I’m... waiting. Waiting for what? Waiting for the heavens to open and rain to flood the land, taking with it all good peoples, hopes, dreams and plans. Because all our hopes our dreams and plans all hinge upon a Minsters quirk. This Minister will have the power to grant Life or Death. Committee members, of the Barmah Brumby Preservation Group have worked so very hard, trying to come up with many ways, to save our Barmah Brumbies lives for seen years they have tried and everything that they have done to date, has been ignored by the Labour Government and Parks Victoria. As far as I’m concerned, an Angel has appeared with a thousand acres bordering the Barmah Forest for all of our Brumbies. If the Government agrees, then there will be no need for a CULL and no need for any shooting. So why do I find it hard to believe that the government will agree to this plan? Is it perhaps, that they haven’t tried to meet us halfway for seven long years? Photo credit: Janine Morffew Poem by: Maree Sura See more

05.01.2022 I was very lucky yesterday to be able to head out into the Barmah Forest to see the Barmah Brumbies. I'm going out again today with the amazing help of Kim, a p...assionate local who loves the brumbies with all her heart. I can't wait to share more photos with you all. Featured here is a mare and her colt. I hope this Barmah Brumby will have a fortunate life and that he will live it in the Barmah Forest where he belongs. Wild and free for the entirety of his life. 03.01.2022 On this day... 19years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning.... 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted. #wewillneverforget Follow Instagram.com/historic for more!
