06.01.2022 The current COVID-19 event is having a significant economic impact on businesses and communities across the region. Businesses have been impacted by restrictions and lost revenue and this will flow on effects to other parts of the local economy. A national economic impact study is being conducted by respected economic modelling consultant REMPLAN, using methodology understood by the State Government. This is to gain an insight into change of employment and economic impact at ...an industry scale, and how these impacts vary from state to state and region to region. The information gathered in this survey will assist identifying the support needed and opportunities for future recovery. To help us better understand the regional economic impacts of COVID-19 we encourage all businesses to fill in the survey. You can access the survey here: https://www.remplan.com.au/covid-19-australian-business-e/ See more

04.01.2022 CROSS BORDER UPDATE Thank you all for your patience today. The new SA Order for entry to South Australia has kept us all on our toes - especially the requiremen...t for testing every 7 days which was a surprise for us all. Ive been in regular contact today with the Cross Border Commissioner, a number of key representatives along the state border and the SA Govt. We are working through the issues, hopefully tomorrow will be easier. Heres an update on a few key matters that have been most topical today. TESTING REQUIREMENTS Were still working through the issue of COVID testing every seven days for cross border community members. This has been raised at the highest level in SA Health and we will continue to pursue it tomorrow. At this stage you can get tested on the major highway border crossing points between 8am and 4pm. However, I believe one point ran out of tests today, trucks were being turned around, and the limited hours is creating issues for truckies that may cross the border at any time. This isnt working for SA either as they cant get fuel or goods into the South East. Not being able to access asymptomatic testing in Victoria is also problematic, and further, testing is limited or just not available at all in Victorian cross border communities. We have raised this with the Victorian Govt. All I can really say at the moment is there is a lot of people working on it and Ill keep you updated if (when) things change. TESTING EXEMPTION FOR CHILDREN To clarify, children under the age of 16 are exempt from the testing requirement on entry to SA. See clause 14, section 4, part c in the SA Order here: https://www.covid-19.sa.gov.au//Emergency-Management-Cross CASTERTON IS WITHIN THE 40KM LIMIT The SA map drawing team are getting their rulers out and were hopeful a corrected map showing Casterton rightly within the 40km the border will be issued soon. OTHER ISSUES There are many individual issues that we are working through. Its really hard for me to keep up with the many messages to different posts I get on FB, so please forgive me if I miss something. If you dont hear from me against your comment, please send me an email as its much easier to keep on top of (my awesome staff wont let me lose track of it!): [email protected] Thanks for your understanding. Thanks also to everyone for your patience with SA Police. Theyre doing a great job under really tough circumstances and are learning the rules just like us. Lets be kind and try to work though this together.
