25.01.2022 PARKRUNNER PROFILE! Jackie Exell : 2 December 2017... ? My brother was visiting from SA and told me about parkrun. Horsham hadnt started at that stage, so we got up bright and early and travelled to Ararat. A work colleague mentioned in 2018 there was one starting in Horsham, so I signed up. I hurt my ankle quite badly in the lead up to the Horsham launch, so I spent my first few parkruns volunteering! ? 54 parkruns and 36 volunteering. ? All of them! I enjoy taking photos to make sure we capture all our smiling faces! I enjoy my role as Run Director but love having a go at the other vollie jobs as well. ? Yep - love it! Checking for the nearest parkrun is the first thing I do when I go away! Ive been to Maribyrnong, Mudjimba Beach Qld, Brimbank, Wallaby Track, Echuca Moama, Parkville, Ocean Grove, Ararat and Toolern Creek. ? When Im participating, trying to get that next PB! I love volunteering and being able to support this amazing worldwide, free initiative. ? The people. parkrun is all inclusive, it doesnt matter your age, race, gender, fitness level. Yes, you can complete your 5k on a treadmill and then input your time on your profile. ? No, you can choose to do the same route, or something different every time, its entirely up to you. // ? You can do, but you dont have to. We definitely do not want parkrunners turning up to their usual parkrun course at parkrun time.
