25.01.2022 #WINCvillage #sitehistory #shareourexcitement Middleton Farm, so productive! Recorded for Howe's grass experiments/trials, with seven acres under Fruit...currants, gooseberries, strawberries, raspberries, quinces, figs, apricots and plums...good news for the future development of a permaculture landscape with productive orchards and vegetable plots.

25.01.2022 @SocialVenturesAustralia is doing great work to address womens homelessness - understanding it to include a broad range of women and circumstances. WINC is working with SVA and Womens Property Initiatives and is grateful for their help as we try to create a model that will help women across the spectrum of resources and experiences.

22.01.2022 The Lady Musgrave Trust released a fabulous resource for older women today. Even if you're not in Queensland, you can use their guide to start a conversation with a woman you know (or yourself) about your housing security. Please reach out to them to order a full guide or receive a free downloadable copy.
22.01.2022 It will be so much fun when we get to the design stage with a creative architect! One day soonish we hope!
20.01.2022 #WINCvillage #history #shareourexcitement Prior to 1873 a section of Stanbridge’s run was purchased/selected by John Goodwin Howe, a miner then store-owner on Wombat Flat. In October 1859, Howe was elected to the Daylesford Council, sitting on the Council with Stanbridge

07.01.2022 #WINCvillage #history #shareourexcitement In 1873 an article appears in the Melbourne Leader. Middleton is noted as a model farm of the area. Mr Howes farm is situated on an elevated tableland, a sort of spur to the higher hills with unusually rich soil, sixteen feet of chocolate loam basalt rock

04.01.2022 Hard to believe, but WINC is 3 years old this month! Our first meeting was the 7th of May 2017...and here we are, 30 strong, very close to a cohousing community in Daylesford! Thanks to everyone who has helped us, given feedback, offered ideas, done work, joined as members and friends, travelled alongside (thinking of you, Womens Property Initiatives) supported us to get here! To celebrate our birthday, we launched our website: https://winccohousing.org.au/ !
04.01.2022 WINC celebrates International Womens Day with Matrix Guild of Vic Inc in the ChillOut Parade. Fearless leader Maggie (curly retriever) sleeps in preparation for the call to lead the big event.... #IWD2020

03.01.2022 A very difficult and pervasive situation. Lets hope WINC can be part of a solution at least at a local level.
03.01.2022 Thinking locally...acting locally...learning lots and working for change.

02.01.2022 Wouldnt it be great if Jo Orange would host a workshop at our WINC community once were up and running?
01.01.2022 Big News: A Home for WINC! WINC has begun 3-way negotiations with Hygge Property developers and not-for-profit social housing provider Womens Property Initiatives [WPI] to build our cohousing eco-village on a Hygge site at 17 Smith Street in Daylesford. The 1880s sandstone house will be re-purposed as the WINC Commonhouse, providing the centrepiece for our older womens community. Hygge are working with Breathe architecture to build the first Nightingale housing in Ballarat..., and this team has now begun work with us on WINC in Daylesford. We are very excited about the innovative possibilities of what we can create working with people who understand community and share our commitment to sustainable, energy efficient buildings that are also affordable, beautiful, accessible and enhance human interaction. Lots more news to come!
