25.01.2022 Little Elvis started his work on human trust and being caught today, with great progress by Sarah our trainer.

25.01.2022 Dam play day for the mares - Matilda, Dusty and Duchess plucked up the courage to go for a splash, the others were convinced there were sharks

24.01.2022 Minis of Mt Torren - Elvis Little Elvis is making fantastic progress since coming in! He is now not acting like a stallion towards other geldings, so has gone in to live with Pedro. The little man still finds mares interesting though... Soon he will be ready for his first trim by the farrier, he has now learned to pick up his front hooves!

23.01.2022 We have cut our hay! And with a week of warm weather ahead with minimal rain it should cure ready for baling nicely. Thanks to the fire recovery grant from NRM and also the CBA, we were able to weed spray, fertilise and re-seed the large paddocks at Mt Torrens. Having the ability to cut our own hay will help lower our hay bill and allow us to direct much needed funds into the recovery of horses like Sophie and Spirit who both had xrays this week.

21.01.2022 Farrier day today, and most importantly, farrier for our new arrival Cruise. Say hello to the best looking little set of freshly discovered hooves in the Hills! He is learning how to walk again without the excess hoof, but is doing great.

17.01.2022 This week is Mares of Mt Torrens week! Available for adoption - Dusty Dusty is a 13yo chestnut thoroughbred who was never raced.... She has a lovely temperament, and has learned to trust humans again after her past few years of neglect. She is not started under saddle but has has started ground work in preparation. A very expressive mare who pulls hilarious faces at feeding time!

16.01.2022 Gordon had more dental work done by Simone Herbert from Adelaide Equine Veterinary Dentistry recently. He continues to improve and his teeth are getting better and better each visit.

14.01.2022 Dental today for Gordon as it was too windy and dusty for a field gelding. He’s quite an old man from his teeth, and he had many things wrong including some of the biggest hooks at the back the vet had ever seen, and periodontal disease. So after an extended dental session he has had the hooks taken down, sharp points taken off, and some other tidying up done.... In another month he will get another dental done to further improve his mouth and get his ramps and waves attention. He will also get head and mouth xrays for a hole into his nasal cavity Thanks to our awesome vets at Adelaide Hills Veterinary Services once again

14.01.2022 Our little guy pony Kaz has been adopted! He went to his trial home a month ago and is now a much loved part of the family with Lisa and Pete.

14.01.2022 With the constant demand for horses to be surrendered, we are always looking for experienced foster homes to take in one of our rescues for rehabilitation and care. If you are able to provide the home, we provide vet, farrier and dental care, along with any hay or hard feed needed to bring the horse back to health. Please message us to find out more or to apply... All horses in need of rescue thank you in advance

14.01.2022 Lockdown Day 1: Elvis spam

14.01.2022 We interrupt minis of Mt Torrens to bring you this important news update.... Rosie and Duchess both had their first rides under saddle today! With comprehensive groundwork at a pace the horses can understand, and training them without fear while building their confidence, saddle prep and first ride becomes just another easy event for them.

14.01.2022 Mares of Mt Torrens day 3 Available for adoption - Leigh Leigh is really sweet old thoroughbred at 20 years young.... She arrived emaciated with Dusty and Duchess, and since regaining her weight has shown her true personality. She is a delight to be around - easy to catch, meets you at the gate, perfect for the farrier, and spends her days mowing and tittering to the other horses. She would make a lovely paddock pet or companion to another horse.

12.01.2022 This week we have welcomed 'Cruise' into our Windamere family. This delightful gelding will be receiving urgent attention to his hooves.

11.01.2022 Another happy day at Windamere (albeit a little delayed process and announcement to complete due to Covid) Charlie and Emma have gone to their forever home and been formally adopted! Wishing them and their new family a long happy life together

09.01.2022 Our special needs girl Spirit is continuing to improve since she arrived a month ago. She is on medication for cushings, and is due another corrective trim next week to further improve her hoof angles. More importantly she has been losing her excess weight (no more apple bum) and her large cresty neck has reduced significantly which is promising!... She will soon be clipped for summer and we look forward to seeing her new coat come through.

08.01.2022 Happy Friday from Duchess It's 4 months tomorrow that she, Leigh and Dusty arrived with ribs showing and very hungry.

05.01.2022 Little Cruise went off to foster care yesterday to continue his rehabilitation under the care of our wonderful farrier. He has had xrays to enable accurate hoof trimming to hopefully fix the lack of hoof care in his past. For those with a keen eye, yes that’s Dancer (now named Danny) in the background - he’s all grown up now!

05.01.2022 Hello from Rosie. Windamere have been slack and not posted any updates on me for a bit! Aren’t they rude, since I am such a pretty mare and should be getting far more air time! I am off spelling and coming down from my racing career, you will see me coming under saddle soon... Ciao for now, I have just seen a butterfly to chase weeeeeeeeeeeeeee Love Rosie xoxoxo

04.01.2022 Minis of Mt Torrens - Pedro Pedro is a 15yo taffy mini gelding who is stunningly handsome. He can be a little tricky to catch but fine in a small yard or with a treat. Once on lead he is a perfect gentleman to work with and loves neck scratches.... He is available for adoption, and needs a home who can keep him on a grass free dry lot as, like many ponies and minis, is founder prone. So perfect for a companion to another founder or laminitis horse. We do not believe he is started to saddle. If you would like to know more about Pedro please feel free to message us.

03.01.2022 More building trust and engaging Elvis's thinking brain rather than afraid (primitive) brain. The little man is responding really well.

03.01.2022 This is so true!!

02.01.2022 8yo mini gelding, who has an abusive past and was tied with a rope around his neck, causing a deep wound and scar

02.01.2022 Mares of Mt Torrens day 2 Available for adoption - Duchess Duchess is a 10yo thoroughbred who came into our care via the rspca along with Leigh and Dusty.... She is a lovely chunky brown girl who would love to find her new home as a paddock pet or ridden horse (she is not yet under saddle but did race). She is easy to rug feet etc but nervous of being caught by new people.

01.01.2022 Introducing our newest little gelding....
