14.01.2022 We received an email this morning from Captain Ben Wheatley, Master of TS Pelican London. It is amazing where sail training on Windeward Bound can take you. I have very fond memories of my time on board, both the time we spent sailing around Tassie and also up in NSW; I definitely learnt a great deal whilst working for you. Thank you very much for the opportunity, it is one I will never forget. I have continued my career at sea, a I have progressed up through the ranks a b...it. I was sailing as Bosun then I believe, and continued with the Tall Ships Youth trust for a few more years, gaining certification and eventually sailing as First Mate, until leaving their employ is 2012 - the year I got married. I have gained a lovely wife (also a square rig sailor, but not full-time any more) and two young daughters who are learning to sail small boats already at ages 2 and 5. On the work front I have more recently achieved my Master 3000GT Certificate of Competency, and taken command of TS Pelican of London. I am writing this from the master's cabin whilst at anchor in Golfito on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. There is a framed photograph of Windeward bound on the bulkhead to my left as I sit here. https://www.adventureundersail.com/

12.01.2022 TALL SHIP RACES In 2019, Jordan Ruth a volunteer on the STV Windeward Bound participated in the Tall Ship Races aboard The Gulden Leeuw. When I joined the Windeward Bound I didn’t ever think I’d have the chance to sail on a tall ship overseas, it’s amazing. I’m sure I’ll be forever grateful for it, it’s not something I expected to be doing, but Winde has opened that door for me. - Jordan Ruth. ... This year you too can join the Tall Ship Races 'virtually'. Virtual Sailing allows you to experience the thrill of an epic race from the comfort of home. 04.01.2022 #FestivalUpdate The time has come for us to make the incredibly complex decision on the future of the Australian Wooden Boat Festival 2021. We have tried our b...est to explore all possible avenues, but at this time it is not viable to run a festival without seriously risking public safety. We are incredibly disappointed that we cannot give our boat owners and the general public an event to look forward to. Therefore we are announcing today the cancellation of our festival for February 2021 BUT look forward to 10-13 February 2023!
