17.01.2022 Solar Pumping There are many reasons for using solar water pumping systems. ... Cost saving on fuel and power Save time, and money if carting water Less expensive than other pumping systems Clean (no oil, no diesel) Simple to install, and easy to maintain Labour saving (easier to work on than Windmills) Safe (no lethal voltages) Modern. (not like the systems Grand dad had) Control features (to regulate the flow, no water is pumped to waste) It is never just the case that no other form of power is available. Diesel power is always an option. However the diesel needs to be feed, and in most cases it also needs to be started and stopped. Even if the diesel is capable of pumping a lot of water in a short time, it is always an inconvenience having to "go and do it". Over the lifetime of the solar pump, it will save the equivalent of the diesel fuel that might have been used. The running cost of the solar pump is zero. The control features that can be added to a solar pump make it the most convenient of all the options. Because electrical power is available at the site (while the sun shines), solar pumps can be fitted with either a Pressure Switch, Float Switch, or Depth Probes (to sense the water level in the bore). Solar Water pumping systems are used for any pumping application where power is not available. Typically this is household use, stock watering, small scale irrigation, aquaculture, viticulture, community and village water supplies, and water transfer. Pumps are classified as either surface or borehole pumps. Surface solar pumps are used for pumping from dams, creeks, rivers, soaks, shallow wells, or tanks. Borehole pumps are usually submersible type pumps where both the pump and motor are below the water level in the bore or well. Most solar systems are in a range of three pumping heads, and four volumes per day. Beginning with the low head, low flow pumps to deliver up to 5000 litres per day to heads of around 20 metres - these are typically pumping from a dam or a shallow well to a small holding tank. The largest systems are very high head, up to 100 metres and high volumes, over 15,000 or more litres per day. 08.01.2022 The way to protect your vulnerable animals from attacks by foxes and other night predators. The main agricultural impact from foxes is predation on lambs, kids and poultry. Foxes are thought to prey on up to 30% of lambs and kids in some areas. Most fox attacks will occur within the first 24 hours of an animals’ life. Twins are the most at risk, while the second lamb or kid is being born; the first-born will wander off bleating, unprotected and thus be prone... to attack. Young Foxes can cause significant damage to Silo Bags, when playing on top of them, if they fall down one side of the bag, their claws dig into the plastic and tear the bag open . 07.01.2022 This SunPump SDS series submersible pump is a highly efficient, low voltage, DC powered, diaphragm-type positive displacement pump designed specifically for water delivery in remote location like this. This installation is in a small wetland area on a sheep grazing Property near Grenfell in NSW. Wetlands are an important place on any farm. They provide breeding sites for hundreds of Australian animals and they improve water quality. ... They provide habitat for animals and plants and many contain a wide diversity of life, supporting plants and animals that are found nowhere else in the world. With this in mind, the land owner does not want to take a lot of water from the low yielding spring that is supplying the swamp. This Sunpump witch is using only one 80 watt Lorentz solar module cost $3,500 and is ideal for this purpose, mounted below a floatation device the pump does not pick up any surface rubbish and is held well above the sediment that has collected at the bottom of the water hole. Pumping only 1000 litres per day, the water is pumped along a 1.5km pipe line to a large storage tank. Over a one month period this will amount to more than 30,000 litres, when it is time for the sheep to be moved into the paddock that the tank supplies, there will be plenty of water in reserve so that the sheep can stay in there for a reasonable period of time. The Sunpump Solar Pumping System comes with solar panels, array frame and post, electrical cable, float, nylon cable to help locate the pump in position and is supplied pre-assembled and tested.
