25.01.2022 We are thrilled with our girls’ results from the Perth Royal Show. On Wednesday they took out Champion and Reserve Champion ewe and then went on to win Supreme Australian White. We were back in the ring today for the Interbreed competition. This is the first year that there have been classes for the Australian Whites so we were over the moon to come in third place out of a wonderful line up on ewes. 15.01.2022 I think there is a lot to like about this August drop ram lamb. He’s got a great frame and length, nice balance, good muscling over the back and into the hindquarter, good through the twist and stands square, sound teeth/feet/testicles and from a line of great shedders (give him a couple more weeks and he’ll be clean as a whistle) with great fertility. He’s heading in with our first cross ewe lambs to earn his keep.

12.01.2022 I can’t wait to finally get these girls home! Firstly, the jewel in the crown of my grey herd... Goldleaf Argyle Dust (Goldleaf Dynamic x Goldleaf Diamond Dust (Vista El Comodin)). The most divine angel you’ve ever seen (with advanced fleece qualities very rarely seen in a grey)!! Endless thanks to Brett Fallon Goldleaf for agreeing to sell her to me (it could have just been to stop the months of endless nagging )!!! Secondly, the divine white grey Goldleaf Opium Dreams (Goldleaf Nobility x Stansfield Park Juliet) with a fleece that is just to die for!!

12.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone!!! ...after seeing in the New Year in the barn last night with a maiden Dorper ewe whose lamb I had to pull (only one so far and both mum n bub are doing well), we had 5 ewes lamb today... 2x singles, 2x sets of twins and 1x set of quads!!! ....such lovely patterns - so far we’ve had the standard Dorper black heads, black & white ones like this and solid whites! They’re Dorper x Aussie White crosses.

08.01.2022 The Motley Crew! ...this bunch of colourful Dorper and Dorper cross ewes (plus a few more) will go in lamb to an Aussie White ram to ensure they are good breeders and mothers before becoming next year’s recips. The ram lambs will be sold and ewe lambs retained to go into the recip herd.

07.01.2022 This guy was weaned today ... 40kg at 100 days. I’m happy with that. He is by our cracking sire Ardene 180025. I can’t wait to see what his embryo transfer lambs out of our best ewes are like! Australian White Sheep Breeders Association

03.01.2022 Very happy with the lambing percentages of this batch of future recips! We like to naturally cover these girls with our Aussie White rams to make sure they are good mothers and have no breeding faults before using them as recips. In this group the maidens all had singles (which we like for maidens) and the rest of the girls had a lambing percentage of 184%!! Apart from one twin and one triplet that the foxes got as fresh newborns, all these lambs have made it through to wea...ning. The lambs are an interesting spread of colours - about 1/3 black heads, 1/3 solid white and 1/3 black with white patches (pic is of some of the lambs when they were just a few days old).

02.01.2022 So relieved that this batch of Aussie White ET lambs are all safely on the ground! ...the last recip crossed her legs until 153 days (...2 days after we induced her) just to make sure we didn’t get a break before the pregnant Aussie White stud girls are due to start lambing! Over 60% ram lambs isn’t ideal when you’re trying to build your ewe herd but it does mean we will have some cracking rams available in the not too distant future. These boys are ET brothers by Ardene 170425 out of Ardene 170119 (top priced ewe at the Ardene Relocation Ewe Sale 2018). Heavy muscled, sound confirmation and great temperaments. ...at various stages of shedding their winter woolies.

01.01.2022 The whole family made the long trek down to the Albany Agricultural Show this weekend. It was a wonderful weekend and a very well run show. Albany Show Our sheep did us proud taking out Australian White Champion ram and Champion ewe, with our lovely ewe ‘Edith’ backing up her Supreme win at the Perth Royal with Grand Champion Australian White and our ram ‘Bazza’ coming in third in the interbreed. It was fantastic to see such a great turn out of Aussie White sheep, as well as... new breeders coming through. #AussieWhite #SheddingSheep #WayguOfLamb Australian White Sheep Breeders Association We also took some of our Alpaca weanlings down which was great fun! ...very fancy herd guards in the making! Thanks again to Danny Birch and @Jane O’Neill of Honkeynut Hill Alpacas for giving the little ones a lift so they didn’t have to shack up with the sheep! Australian Alpaca Association
