22.01.2022 Windsor Croquet Anniversary Weekend. Saturday 1st July, and 24 members and invited guests from Merthyr, McIlwraith and Eildon clubs celebrated our 103rd birthday with games on the lawns well prepared by Terry and his aides. Each lawn was drawn up differently with all attendees vying for the best results. Mazes, Targets, Apexes, Circles all drawn into the lawn were navigated to the letter. All games were related to croquet strokes, not necessarily executed in strict obeyanc...e of the rules. Judging length of stroke is simple during the game where progression dictates the order, but much fun and laughter was heard as all joined in the fun and frivolity. As is Terrys want, we moved quickly from lawn to lawn. A barbecue lunch was prepared, and served with salad, followed by pavlova. Indoor brainteasers tested the skills of what do we know of our own members. Back to the lawns for Golf croquet doubles, and moving one or two players on to the next court during play to mix up the pairs made for more interesting games. This was a true Gala Day, full of fun and good cheer. Thanks to Terry for organising and hosting the day, and a big thank you to all helpers (especially Graham Wemyss), without whom we could not have enjoyed the day so much. Happy 103rd Anniversary. 22.01.2022 The 2017 Windsor Golf Shield held the weekend of the 6/7 May, was highly contested and played in great spirit. Winners were not decided until the last 2 rounds. We had a full field of 16 divided into 2 groups. Winner of Group A Ron Schodel (Wynnum), Runner-up of Group A Graham McLean (Windsor) Winner of Group B Richard Pickvance (Wynnum) Runner-up of Group B Geraldine Trivett (Stephens)... Thanks go to Terry Ericson for setting the hoops and refereeing both days, Graham Wemyss for setting the hoops, Cynthia Tacey for help setting the lawns, Peter Stevenson for the computer work, and Glenda Hale, Margaret Allen for providing homemade goodies, and all the members that helped. 14.01.2022 Held recently at the Windsor Croquet Club with Merthyr Croquet Club and our local councillors with their staff/family

13.01.2022 Windsor Croquet and Bowls Clubs Community Friendship Day Sunday 2nd July, we invited the Windsor Bowls club to join us for morning tea and Croquet. Twentyfour Croquet players welcomed 14 Bowlers and 6 guests. After some sumptuous food, provided by our members, we took to the lawns. Terry exerted his skills as Instructor and introduced the game. Windsor members played with the newcomers, and the Bowlers proved quite adequate with the mallet and balls. Some potential towa...rds the game proved how adaptable some sportsmen and women can be. We may have converted one or two. After the raffle was drawn, we were welcomed at the Bowls Club for a light lunch. Bowling a bowl is much different to croquet, but we jumped in for a try. Most of us did eventually learn the bias, but sending the ball too far was an obvious mistake, losing points previously earned. As in all sports, allowing for the wind, the drag, the bias, and of course doing something so foreign was payback for the bowlers, who joyfully said now you know how we felt with your game. What a great day, great friendship shared, we do not appreciate our neighbours enough. WCC extends a big vote of thanks to Wendy and the Windsor Bowls Club. I would like to thank all who attended, to make this a great weekend. May Windsor Bowls and Windsor Croquet be here another 103 years. Happy 103rd Anniversary. 13.01.2022 This is The Prime Minister Of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern. She's 37. She's the youngest female Head of Government in the world. She's also the first western wom...an to give birth while in this position of power. 2 days after the baby was born - with midwives, standard in NZ hospitals - she introduced her to the country during a press conference on the nightly news. It was really lovely. She named her Neve Te Aroha. Te Aroha means "The Love" in Maori. It represents ALL the names that were submitted (upon her request) from various tribes throughout the country, and was her attempt at capturing them all. This is her and her partner, no, he's NOT her husband (gasp!), walking to the press conference. He's TV fishing show Host Clarke Gayford, and HE will be staying at home with baby Neve when his lady goes back to running the country in 6 weeks. Clarke sports a snazzy sweater he picked up at the op-shop (second-hand store) in Gisborne, and thinks its just kinda logical that he gives up his day job to stay home and look after the baby. A week after the birth on July 1st Jacinda introduced a $5billion Families Package that she'd drafted on the floor of her friends house in Hastings - long before her pregnancy. It's based on the knowledge that the first few years of a babies life are the most important. The package gives an extra $60 a week to families with new babies, and an extra $700 to families for winter heating costs as well (it's cold as hell down there in the winter). It also increases the Paid Leave for new parents from 18 weeks to 22 weeks. She announced the details via Facebook live, from her couch, right after she'd finished breastfeeding the baby. Because Kiwis. Some of the most down-to-earth, no-drama-having, just-do-it kind of people you'll ever meet. And because Women. We really do know how to lead, and to do it well. #ManaWahine

12.01.2022 The Brisbane North Golf Croquet Doubles was scheduled to play at Windsor last Sunday 11th June. But the heavens opened and during the third round all play had to be called off. Winners of each Block was decided with Block A winners Elaine Rubock and Richard Pickvance from Wynnum, who were victors in 3 games. Runners up Terry Ericson and Steve Leach from Windsor. Winners of Block B were Glenda Hale and Cynthia Tacey with nett + 15. Runners up Graham McLean and David Hale from... Windsor . Congratulations to all. It had a great beginning, with 12 pairs vying for the BNR Cup. Unfortunately the weather was against us, and games had to closed down. All enjoyed the morning but they were more than happy to go home to dry clothes. Better luck next year. Cynthia Tacey. Manager BNR Event.
