24.01.2022 ITALIAN WINE PACK . This week I am thrilled to be offering you three dreamy wines from one of my favourite wine producing counties - Italy. A country that conjures up great feelings - the food, wine, landscape, people, weather are nothing short of breathtaking. Italian wine was the first country that commanded my attention when entering the wine world. That fascination has never left me. First a white wine from the Soave wine region, located in the Northeast of Italy (not... far from Venice). Here a local grape called Garganega owns the landscape producing tremendously crisp whites with zest and energy. Next up - Valtellina. You have to discover this region. It is spectacular and so are the wines which are born here. The grape is Nebbiolo or Chiavennasca as they call it locally. If you like Pinot Noir these are right up your alley. Finally, one of the most famous wines from Italy - Chianti Classico. The home of Sangiovese. What's not to love? Beautiful, medium bodied red wines that are perfect at the table. . LINK IN BIO . Many more wines to checkout online now too! . Happy Drinking! . #winetheroy #winesubscription #winedelivery #melbounre #covid19 #wine #italianwine #wineaustralia See more

17.01.2022 DOURO RIVER VALLEY The premier wine producing region of Portugal. It was the first region in the country to be given offical status and the first appellation in Europe to be recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spectacular terraces rise from river that has carved a path through the Marão and Montemuro Mountains. Port is the famous wine produced in this valley, but fantastic table wines are also made.... Schist is the prized soil of the region. Port is now a protected term in the EU much like Champagne. Key red grapes are Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Cão, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Francisca, Bastardo and Mourisco Tinto. There are three subzones in Douro; Baixo Corgo to the west has the highest density of plantings, Cima Corgo has the highest total vineyard acreage, and Douro Superior, which stretches to the Spanish border, is the largest, most arid, and most sparsely planted region in Douro. Some famous producers of Port: Quinta do Noval, Grahamn, Fonseca, Taylor, Croft, Quinta do Noval plu many more. . We should drink more port!! . #portugal #port #fortifiedwine #wine #dourovalley #vintageport #tawnyport See more
12.01.2022 SOUTH AFRICAN WINE PACK . South Africa is a brilliant wine producing country that consistently overdelivers on quality. Sadly these wines are under represented in Australia and we scarcely see their full potential. Fortunately a former colleague of mine moved, with his South African wife, back to her homeland in a few years ago and have been sending small parcels, of some of the prized goods, to our shores ever since. I have always enjoyed littering wine lists and filling... cellars with these wines, as I find them highly captivating and full of personality. There are some powerhouse wine regions in South Africa. Places like Stellenbosch, Constantia and Franschhoek, but what has been happening in Swartland (where the three wines highlighted below are from) has certainly captured my attention over the past five years. This is Burgundy rather than Bordeaux. Farmers rather than grand Chateaux. It's rustic rather than elaborate. All in the best possible sense. . 03.01.2022 SAMAROLI WHISKY . Samaroli is the name on every true spirit connoisseur’s lips. This legendary Italian independent bottler is known for its rare, unique and aesthetically stunning whiskies and rums, many of which smash records at auction. Established as an importer in 1968 by Silvano Samaroli, they became one of the first bottlers to champion cask strength showing far ahead of the game they are. Never afraid to innovate, Samaroli regularly buys casks and re-cask them into n...ew oak to create something completely different to what you might get direct from the distillery. These are remarkable products that are a must for any Whisky or Rum lover. .
