25.01.2022 Well we had a pretty cool tasting at Rusty's last week, with 18 wines from around the world. Add some great wines to some lovely people and a terrific venue, and a very good time was had by all, if you know what I mean (thanks Basil). 15 of the wines were bought by our lovely customers, so there was something for everyone. 23.01.2022 Garagiste Merricks Chardonnay 2015 At a major tasting event in June, 20 of our best wine judges tried 42 of the world's best White Burgundies and Australian Chardonnays, Sadly I wasn't one of the tasters, but James Halliday was, and we have his report. One of the great Chardonnays on our list, the Garagiste, ranked 24th of the 42 wines. Well, that's ok. But when you consider that the average price of the wines tasted was $390 per bottle, and the Garagiste wine has an RRP of $...45, that's pretty big achievement. And Halliday gave it 97 points. As you'd expect, the Garagiste wine, from Merricks on the Peninsula, isn't discounted much, but you can buy one of the world's best on the Wine Counsel website for $42 in a straight or mixed six pack, and get free delivery. 20.01.2022 Here's a preview of just some of the wines we'll have to try at our free tasting at Rusty's: Pazo Cilleiro Rias Baixas Albarino 2016 - a fresh, vibrant dry white from the North West corner of Spain Bertaine Vallee de L'Aude Rose 2015 - made from high altitude vineyards in the Pyrenees foothills. Aromatic, crisp, full of flavour.... Luca Bosio Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC 2014 - Nebbiolo from the Piedmont region is one of Italy's greatest red wine styles. Clos Leon St. Emilion Bordeaux Merlot 2015 - This was a great year in Bordeaux, and it shows in this soft yet intense Merlot.
