23.01.2022 Down at the Dromana vineyard today. Lifting wires and "managing" snails! We also tasted 2020 wines in barrel. Great to have Peter from Dromana Estate giving us some insight into what is happening with the vines at the moment.

16.01.2022 Here in Melbourne we are still in lockdown due to Covid19 and the accompanying Government restrictions. For example no travel beyond 25kms of your home, etc. This has created some challenges for the Heartbreak Grape course. We are awaiting news this week of some relaxation of restrictions and hopefully we will be back in the vineyard and if possible tasting some wonderful Pinot Noirs from around Australia. 14.01.2022 Today I was down on the Mornington Peninsula tasting and topping up Pinot Noir barrels from 2020. We will be bottling soon and have decided to bottle each barrel separately. Yesterday I was pleased to get results from the Eltham Wine Show 2020. My Garage, Heathcote Shiraz 2019 received a Silver Medal. Scoring 18/20. Judges comments, "Clear, bright. Dark, earthy notes. Sweet, dark cherries. Robust, concentrated style. Balanced in alcohol, some juicy mid-palate, cocoa,black plum, sweet spices." #victorianwine #shirazwine #heathcotewine #heathcoteshiraz

08.01.2022 I am writing the label description for my next release wine, 2019 Heathcote Shiraz. We decided to pick a little earlier in 2019 and we have included a small proportion of stems and whole berries in the ferment. Also 2 barrels and a bit was made, of which 1 barrel was new. A bright and fresh wine, without sacrificing richness. More red fruits and cherry. Liquorice is still there, as is some spice, cloves. Sam (the real winemaker) has again produced a stylish wine, complex, ba...lanced, very good length and very drinkable.
