A few months ago i read a book called #godforsakengrapes by @boozecolumnist (hope you don’t mind I nicked your idea mate) and it dives in to grapes that are off the beaten track. Arnies, Vermentino, Blaufrankish ect...... Most of these weird and wonderful grapes are grown in our own backyard! We looked at @brashhiggins #zibbibo - dry, aromatic, textural, awesome @winesofmerritt #vermentino - crisp, clean, sea spray, refreshing @pizziniwines #arneis - bone dry, almond, quince, wonderful @catlinwines #grunerveltliner - rich, wild, funky and perfumed @castelliestate #gewurztraminer - rose, lychee, spicy, one of my favorites @aylesburyestate #gamay - better than Beaujolais Tascante #etnarosso (#nerellomascalese ) - like a full bodied pinot but you can taste the burnt earth @haselgrove_wines #montepulciano - unfined, unfiltered, raw and delicious. @vinterloper #touriganacional - dark, rich, silky and smoooothe. Was so good we’ll do another one in the new year. In the meantime, definitely check out the book godforsaken grapes(also available as an e-book). It’s a great read!
