16.01.2022 Food relief is an essential service and is still operating from our main building. Please call ahead to make an appointment to pick up a food parcel if you are needing support. 9212 0236 Food parcel pickup is operating by individual appointment spaced 10 minutes apart for hygiene and distancing.... Please note: COVID-19 testing being operated by DHHS Public Health teams is operating from a separate building (the Community Shed) There are signs out the front directing people about 50m to the left of the centre. Follow the footpath to the building with a deck and a roller door
15.01.2022 Friendship in the time of COVID-19 Cindy and Lido share a love of the old Beijing, moving the body, and great conversation. Cindy studied English at Wingate Ave and Lido came to get advice on a parking fine through the legal service; unfortunately, she had to pay the fine but fortunately discovered the community centre.... Cindy and Lido met during COVID restrictions this year, through the centre’s Zoom women’s group. They could tell from looking at each other they had Chinese heritage and were eager to learn more. Lido learned that Cindy was from Beijing and thought ‘Wow, this is common ground’. Cindy grew up in the ancient city of Beijing and Lido’s son is currently living there. They exchanged phone numbers and the following week went for a socially distanced walk with the sun on their faces and the wind rustling in the trees. The picture they both paint of ancient Beijing sounds full of mystery and wonder. In the 1980’s Lido was working for a Swiss company that was managing a project based in Beijing. During that time China was closed to foreigners and it was very hard to get a visa. Lido loves the history and feels very lucky to have visited during that time, soaking up the culture from the Ming dynasty to the Forbidden City. During her visit in the 80’s she vividly remembers everyone wearing a uniform. One for winter and one for summer, colours of blue, green and grey. Cindy loves the history of Beijing, the home of her childhood. Later in life Cindy worked at the Bank of China and would cycle every morning through the Hutong (little alleys) and would pass the old city and big trees, a little piece of her heart will always be there. Cindy and Lido are very excited about the easing of restrictions and have made plans to catch up, becoming firm friends. Amid the challenges of COVID-19 it is beautiful to know that friendship blossom and the sharing of our lives continues.

08.01.2022 We are so excited to have taken our first delivery of Halal meals from Mamma’s Kitchen, an initiative employing locals to cook healthy and culturally appropriate meals for food relief. The first meals for the community to try are alicha, a cabbage and potato stew served with rice, and lamb suqaar, a sautéed dish flavoured with Worcestershire sauce. Call us on 9212 0236 to make a food relief appointment.... Thanks for your support @mooneevalleycc
05.01.2022 Celebrate Diwali safely this year. A celebration of light over darkness Diwali is the biggest event of the year. While we may need to celebrate differently, there has never been a more important time to celebrate the good.... This year, it’s safest to celebrate outdoors. Remember, there are restrictions on outdoor gatherings and the number of people allowed in your home. Victoria - enjoy Diwali, you deserve it. But please remember to stay safe Find out more at coronavirus.vic.gov.au/language
