25.01.2022 Wear it Purple Day On Friday 28th August, we celebrated Wear it Purple day. A day designed to show support for LGBTQI+ students. The Wear It Purple organisation has 4 aims Advocate for and empower rainbow young people... Celebrate and promote the value of diversity and inclusion in all community setting Raise awareness about sexuality, sex and gender identity and challenge harmful social cultures Champion rainbow role-models to help young people establish the confidence to be who they are. Led by our SRC, many students wore purple accessories & joined in the Quad to listen to music & wear purple ribbons saying ‘We are the change’. It was important to acknowledge our diverse student population. At Wingham High we accept each other just as we are.

21.01.2022 Australian Off-Road Championship 2020 WHS Students and brothers Cooper & Blake Boyd. 2nd and 11th in Australia respectively. Congratulations!!! This is a piece written by their mother Sherree.... We are very proud of how both our boys competed in their first year of racing with the Australian Off-Road Championship 2020(AORC). Unfortunately, due to COVID a lot of our rounds were cancelled in 2020. They did get in 3 rounds, Rounds 1 and 2 at Toowoomba QLD and Round 3 at Dungog. Round 4 was cancelled due to extremely wet conditions. Further rounds at South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania were cancelled due to Covid. Cooper (Year 7) competed in the J1 Class (85cc small wheel) in the AORC. There were 25 riders competing in his class. After the 3 Rounds Cooper was on equal 1st on points with Mason Boucher of Victoria and came out with a 2nd place due to count back on places. He was super excited about his results. Cooper is looking forward to moving up to the J2 class and earning a spot on the Podium in 2021. Cooper will be competing in the AORC and NSW Off-Road Championship in 2021 and is eager to compete in a full year of racing and to better his results 2021. From the AORC Website I have got the following form their AORC 2020 Junior Class of Champions: J1 The closest finish of all the Championship classes was in the J1 class, proving to be a success in the first year the new 85cc class was run in the AORC. Two riders Mason Boucher and Cooper Boyd tied on 56 points each, with Boucher taking out the championship on a count back for places. Lachlan Roche was able to secure third in the class on 53 points. In fact, the top five riders were covered by a mere 16 points, such was the strong competition in the debut year for this class in 2020. J1 Results Champion Mason Boucher 56 Points Second Place Cooper Boyd 56 Points Third Place Lachlan Roche 53 Points A Zoom interview was held and can be view on: https://www.facebook.com/191521374208268/posts/4015720028455031/ Blake (Year 9) raced in the J4 (125cc to 200cc 2-stoke 200cc to 250cc 4-stroke). There were 30 riders competing in his class. He had a very solid and consistent year on the bike. Blake was very happy to come 11th in Australia in his class. He is looking forward to again competing in the AROC and the NSW Off-Road Champion in 2021.
