23.01.2022 Victorians Honour Des Nash! Tonights Des Nash Memorial was a big one for Western Australians, but it was the visiting Victorian drivers who stole the show, going one, two in the feature and unlucky not to fill all three spots on the podium! Indeed, the Victorians put everyone on notice that they are here for the Australian Title and they certainly mean business for the big shows here in WA!...Continue reading

18.01.2022 Wet End to Motorplex Season Last night saw the Wingless Sprints head to the Perth Motorplex for the final time this season and although three heat races were completed, racing was abandoned shortly after due to rain. Blake Iwanow, who has competed in just a handful of meetings in Wingless Sprints, won two heats from two starts in exciting signs for the youngsters career in the division.... Ash Hounsfield claimed the other preliminary, with the duo set to share the front row in the feature race before the rains came. Courtesy of last nights results, Ash Hounsfield has held on to win the Red Pepper Promotions Wingless Sprint Perth Motorplex Track Championship. He finished sixty one points ahead of Chad Pittard with Brendon Wedge coming home third. 07.01.2022 Its Wingless Warfare! With just a handful of shows remaining for season 2019/20, the Wingless Sprints will this weekend return to the Perth Motorplex for the final round of battle in the season long Track Championship. Just a fortnight removed from the epic National Title, a good field of seventeen cars have nominated for this weekend, with a number of drivers making their first appearances of the season while others are looking to consolidate their positions in the point sc...ore and close the Motorplex season on a high in what will also be the annual Silver Cup event. This will be the eighth time the Silver Cup event will be held for Wingless Sprints and with not one single former winner in the field, we are assured to add a new name to the honour board. Victorian Luke Storer is the man who won the race last year but he has headed home after the Australian Title, opening the door wide for someone else to take the Cup home. Focusing back on the Track Championship and Ash Hounsfield is in the box seat, with a solid fifty six point buffer coming into the final night in the Track Championship standings and with two wins and two other podium finishes from the six shows at the venue (a fourth and a fifth his other two finishes) he is looking to round out his season with another win. Chad Pittard is currently in second place overall while Brendon Wedge is just fourteen points further back in third and with a total of 210 points on offer, either of these drivers could potentially pass Hounsfield in the standings if they have a little luck go their way. Brad Fitzgerald, Jake Robinson, Daran Humfrey and Matty Fellowes have all had solid seasons and could well get another good result come feature time, while others including Blake Iwanow, Gareth Smith, Brad Howell and Bradley Oldfield are newer to the division and are enjoying getting laps under their belts. Add in a whole host of other names and this has the potential to be one of the best races this season. Wingless Sprints will have three eight lap heats this weekend (each driver contesting two), followed by a fifteen lap feature to round out their season of competition at the Perth Motorplex. As expected of the 33 nominations the host state of Western Australia dominates the list with 18 local drivers attempting to become the third Western Australian to claim the ultimate prize.... The two previous Western Australian winners include Daniel Hartigan, who is a two-time Champion having won at Bunbury in 2014 and at then again at Toowoomba in 2016 and Darryl Clayden, who won at the Borderline Speedway in Mount Gambier in 2010. Of the locals there are several major contenders who may drive away with #A1 including Matthew Iwanow, Dean Gittos, Chad Pittard, Brendon Wedge, Daran Humfrey and Ash Hounsfield. Of the local hopefuls Iwanow and Pittard will be among the event favourites as they have recorded some impressive recent results. Gittos was also the WA Title winner the same year. Chad Pittard will also go into the event full of confidence having finished third in this years Western Australian Title at Bunbury on New Years Day and he also has a feature win at the Perth Motorplex this season. Although not a household name Brendon Wedge has finished runner-up in the past two Western Australian Titles and his most recent A-Main victory came on Boxing Day at the Perth Motorplex, so he has proven that he knows what it takes to run up front. Ash Hounsfield also has shown recent speed in his Century Batteries #95 with a feature win two weeks ago at the Perth Motorplex defeating Victorian standouts Daniel and Luke Storer. The Keenquip Racing Team will also be one to watch with Daniel Keen performing the driving duties. Keen is a former Australia #2 having finished behind Todd Wigzell at the Valvoline Raceway in 2012 in addition to winning the Western Australian Title in 2013.
