24.01.2022 Now, more than ever, it’s important to keep your health and wellbeing on track. Leaving home to get medical and other care is allowed. We have opened up HotDoc, our on line booking tool, to enable face to face and telehealth appointments. We have also extended the clinic opening hours. We do ask that you do not attend the clinic should you have any recent history of fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath or flu like symptoms. If you are currently or have recently expe...rienced any of these symptoms, please book a telehealth conference in the first instance, or ring the clinic for further information. Some telehealth conference appointments may incur a fee, please discuss this with the doctor at the start of the consultation. In an effort to control any possible spread of infection, we are limiting the number of people in the waiting area. Unless a carer is required to attend the appointment with you, only 1 person will be allowed in the waiting room or the doctors consulting room. We thank you for your understanding during these new and uncertain times.

18.01.2022 ***** RESULTS ***** Pathology and radiology rest results are generally available within 2 days of the test being performed. Some complex test results can take longer. Results are downloaded electronically to our Doctors by our pathology and imaging providers. TO ENSURE BEST MEDICAL PRACTICE AND FOR MEDICO LEGAL REASONS, WE WILL NO LONGER PROVIDE A TELEPHONE TEST RESULTS SERVICE. RECEPTION STAFF DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR CLINICAL INFORMATION AND TEST RESULTS.... We prefer that you make a follow-up appointment to discuss test results with the ordering doctor. Taking time to discuss your test results during an appointment, even if these test results are normal, helps you gain a better understanding of your medical care. If your results require urgent follow up you will be contacted by your Doctor or a nurse. If your results are abnormal but do not require immediate follow up and you have not made an appointment, you will be notified via SMS, phone or letter, and advised that an appointment is required. Please note that this may not occur until several weeks after your results have been received. If you have any questions regarding this matter please speak with your Doctor or one of the nurses.

11.01.2022 A snapshot of some of our doctors and nurses dressed in the fabulous gowns hand made by an amazing team of sewers, co-ordinated and organised by Dr Pauls wife Rosie. A huge and heartfelt thank you to Adairs for donating the fabric used to create these gowns. Without this donation our doctors, nurses and staff would be at enormous risk of infection due to PPE equipment being so extremely hard to obtain. Please support ADAIRS and put some generous comments on their web page. #adairs
10.01.2022 You may be aware that there was media coverage in June last year in relation to certain services that were previously offered. Health Engine discontinued or overhauled the services in question over a year ago. These changes were made before Health Engine was formally advised of any ACCC investigation. We use Health Engine as an appointment booking service only and never divulge any personal information. Health Engine is confident that personal information was not shared wit...h referral partners unless the individual had expressly requested to be contacted. You can continue to use the app and booking service. If you created a user profile i.e. full name, address, DOB etc. those details will be shared with any health care provider that you book an appointment with, to facilitate the appointment and communicate with you about that appointment. You are under no obligation to provide Health Engine with your booking information and can continue using the other features of the app without doing so or go directly to our website. If you wish to have your account and personal information deleted, you must send a request to [email protected]. If you would like further information, please feel free to contact a member of their Patient Support team who can discuss the issue with you directly [email protected]. See more

We have a limited number of chairs in the waiting area but you are welcome to wait outside once you have checked in. We have provided some seating outside the front of the office and in our staff parking area at the back of the building. 08.01.2022 For pancreatic cancer survivor Debbie Moors, living with the disease means accepting a new version of herself enjoying life, staying focused on the things she can do and helping put the spotlight on a disease that impacts thousands of Australian families each year. Debbie shares her story with us. "I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2016 after several weeks of feeling not quite right. Each night I was waking with discomfort and mild pain from my oesophagus t...hrough to my lower abdomen. Laying on my left side I could feel a bubbling sensation rising-up from my stomach over and over again. As a result, I was waking up tired for work in the morning. Also not wanting to be unwell for Christmas, I had it checked out. As a GP for over 40 years, I knew there was cause for alarm when my liver function blood tests returned high, but hoped it was something less serious. Subsequent tests revealed pancreatic cancer was the probable cause. Not long after this, additional symptoms like jaundice also appeared. I was fortunate to have a great surgical and oncology team on my side to help navigate the long road that lay before me. My tumour was fortunately operable, which I know many are not. I underwent a Whipple operation followed by six months of chemotherapy. While difficult for me to accept, I had to take time off work as a GP during chemotherapy which has progressed me into an early retirement from a job that I loved. Living with side effects from treatment means accepting a new me. I have been enjoying life doing the things I can do rather than fretting over the changes to my life, or what I cant do. Im blessed to have a close, loving family my husband, daughters, sons-in-laws and four gorgeous grandchildren. Ive even found relaxation and fun in a new hobby pastel painting. Im thankful to be a survivor of pancreatic cancer and I want to help put the spotlight on this disease, so more Australians are aware. Its important to not ignore persistent, unusual symptoms for you. Dont be afraid to consult your GP. A good GP will be glad you came in sooner rather than months down the track, which some patients do. Dont ever feel like you are being too demanding if youre concerned. Our greatest challenge when it comes to this disease is that by its nature, it is difficult to detect early because the location of the pancreas hidden deep within the abdominal cavity. Its also further complicated by symptoms that can be vague and non-specific until it has grown to an advanced size or spread to other parts of the body. Its why we need to see significant advancement in research. It would be wonderful to have a reliable early detection test for pancreatic cancer, such as a blood test. This hasnt been discovered by researchers as yet, but Im hopeful. There are also promising advancements in new treatments but there needs to be more funding." See more

01.01.2022 At this time, many people are asking to be tested for COVID-19. When discussing testing and the testing criteria implemented, the Victorian Department of Health (DHHS), GPs and staff across the healthcare industry are increasingly encountering aggression. Currently in Australia, health authorities are not able to test everyone. You can only be tested if you meet the criteria for testing. These criteria include a history of overseas travel, contact with COVID-19 positive pat...ients, fever, upper respiratory symptoms, among others. This protocol is subject to regular updates. Its important to remember that not every sore throat, cough, runny nose or fever will be COVID-19. There are other viruses that commonly circulate at this time of year e.g. rhinovirus and influenza that result in similar symptoms. The testing criteria and guidelines are in place to assist in treatment of individual patients and to protect the wider community. These guidelines are rapidly changing, almost on a daily basis. Here, at Wingrove Medical Clinic, we are committed to providing the best possible care and up to date information for our patients in accordance with DHHS guidelines. We do acknowledge the stress, uncertainty and worry in the community during this unprecedented pandemic. As mentioned in our previous post: If you have recently travelled overseas or been in close contact with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 AND are experiencing symptoms such as shortness of breath, sore throat and cough with or without a fever, we ask that you do not attend the clinic. A 24/7 Coronavirus hotline has been established, as well as screening clinics at the hospitals as below. Patients should ring the hotline or one of the following clinics for further instructions: Coronavirus hotline (available 24/7) 1800 675 398 The Austin 9496 5249 Box Hill Hospital 1300 342 255 The Alfred 9076 2000 The Royal Melbourne Hospital 9342 7000
