25.01.2022 Great News For International Students Studying in South Australia $13.8 million support for International Students in Adelaide affected by COVID-19 The South Australian Government has demonstrated its commitment to our international student community today, by announcing a new $13.8 million International Student Support Package.... This package is designed to support international students currently residing in South Australia and facing financial hardship. There are three components to the package: 1) The South Australian Government, in partnership with the states three public universities, will match funding to alleviate student hardship as a result of COVID-19. The funding will be distributed between Flinders University, The University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia to distribute to their pathway and international students. 2) A $500 emergency cash grant will be available to other international students not studying at one of the public universities, currently enrolled in a course, living in Adelaide and who meet the criteria. 3) For school students living with South Australian families, a one-off $200 COVID-19 assistance payment per student will be provided to homestay families, to help support accommodation for school students. This significant financial package comes on top of work already underway by education providers, agents and community groups in Adelaide.

19.01.2022 ***BREAKING NEWS*** GREAT NEWS FROM AUSTRALIA FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS The Hon Alan Tudge, Acting Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs has just announced five visa changes to ensure international students are not worse off due to the coronavirus pandemic.... 1. The Australian Government will recommence granting student visas in all locations lodged outside Australia. This means when borders re-open, students will already have visas and be able to make arrangements to travel. 2. International students will be able to lodge a further student visa application free of charge, if they are unable to complete their studies within their original visa validity due to COVID-19. 3. Current student visa holders studying online outside Australia due to COVID-19 will be able to use that study to count towards the Australian study requirement for a post-study work visa. 4. Graduates who held a student visa will be eligible to apply for a post-study work visa outside Australia if they are unable to return due to COVID-19. 5. Additional time will be given for applicants to provide English language results where COVID-19 has disrupted access to these services. 13.01.2022 - No Further Stay' ( 8503 ) condition Form 1447 'No Further Stay' waiver request [email protected] ... 8503 - How to request a waiver * A request for waiver can be made by completing Form 1447 'No Further Stay' waiver request (373KB PDF) or by request in writing. Attach: * a certified copy of the personal details page of your passport * documentary evidence to support your claims for requesting waiver. This evidence can include medical reports. Documents not in English must have accompanying English translations. Translations must be National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters accredited A waiver is not automatic. It takes around 28 days to receive an outcome on a waiver request. If we ask you to provide more information or undergo a medical examination, it could take longer. - Requesting a waiver * You can ask us to waive the condition if a major change in your situation occurs while you hold this visa. This change must be out of your control - you could not have prevented or stopped it. Examples of major changes that meet this criteria: * unable to travel due to a medical reason * death or serious illness within close family * natural disaster in home country * war or civil unrest in home country * your school cannot provide the course that you were approved for Some changes that are major but not considered as reasons for waiver: * marriage or starting a de facto relationship with an Australian citizen or permanent resident * failing your course * pregnancy - unless your doctor has told you not to travel Not knowing the condition was attached to your visa is not a reason for a waiver. - If the condition is waived * When a 'No Further Stay' condition is waived, you can apply for another visa without having to leave Australia. But there is no guarantee you will be granted another visa as this depends on whether you meet the legal requirements for that visa. If another visa is granted to you it might also contain a 'No Further Stay' condition. - If the condition is not waived * If the 'No Further Stay' condition is not waived, you will not be able to apply for another substantive visa (except a protection visa or temporary visa of a very specific kind) while you are in Australia. #Covid19 #CoronaVirus #Panic

01.01.2022 Due to COVID-19 pandemic and continuous lockdown many parents are stranded in Australia and are not in a position to leave the country due to the reasons beyond their control. Most of the parents who are onshore are now looking and enquiring about the various types of parent visas options to enable them to stay in Australia with their families. Many parents have got bridging visa A to stay till a decision is taken on their tourist visa application which they have applied o...nshore. The best option for parents those who are 66 years of age or over and onshore can apply for subclass 804 which allows them to stay in Australia on bridging visa till a decision is taken on their application for permanent residency. The wait for outcome of this application is approximately 20-25 years. Till such time they can stay on bridging visa with very minimum visa fee. Before applying for this visa you may check that you may not be having condition 8503 on your visitor visa and you are not on 870 visa. If you have 8503 condition, first you may apply for waiver of this condition and once this condition is waived, you are eligible to apply for subclass 804 parent visa. Parents who are not having 66 years of age are not eligible for this visa. Those parents who are financially sound and having 66 years of age or more can straightaway apply for permanent visa subclass 864 for which the waiting period is 4-5 years till they get this permanent visa. They are eligible to get bridging visa immediately at the time of applying for this visa. All these visas subclass 804 and 884 and 864 can be applied onshore and having bridging visa facility. Those parents who are not in a position to afford full payment for contributory visa 864 have the option to go for subclass 884 and first apply for 2 years temporary visa by paying half fee and then after 2 years apply for 864 permanent contrubutiry visa by paying remaining half. Those parents who are of any age, for them also there are few options like subclass 173 and 143 for applying for contributory permanent visa but no bridging visa for them on these subclasses of visa. There is one permanent visa option for parents of any age i.e. sub class 103 and waiting period for this visa is also 20-25 years and very affordable visa fee but no bridging visa. The requirements for all parent visas are the same i.e. 1. Have a sponsor 2. Meet the balance of family test 3. Have AOS 4. Meet the health requirement 5. Meet the character requirement 6. Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused 7. Have health insurance This is the best time for parents who are onshore on tourist or bridging visa can fruitfully utilise their onshore privilege to apply for parent visa of their choice. At the end it is my earnest request to all parents that as much as possible, you must stay at home. When you leave home, you must use mask and follow all Stage 4 restrictions. See more
